Oh this is Dame Shirley Bassey! Living legend! Yes, British (Welsh specifically). Some incredible numbers, many you’d have heard in films (especially if you’re a Bond fan: “Goldfinger”)...and just around. She’s in her 80s now and has still been recording and releasing new music. Every time she makes an appearance to perform now - because she’s still a diva who can still belt it out! - she gets a standing ovation. She’s extraordinary.

She is known for her animated and emotive delivery. She is one of the most celebrated Welsh singers with a career spanning decades. Her most popular song in the US is “Goldfinger” from the James Bond movie of the same name. She sang a few of the James Bond theme songs-of which “Diamonds are forever” is my favorite. When I was a kid the only version of the song “Goldfinger” that I ever heard was a live performance where she held the final note for a crazy long time. It was an anniversary special on TV or something like that. I’ve been trying to find this version of the song for the longest time because even as a kid, my mind was blown. I have not had any luck. If any Shirley Bassey fans know what he hell I’m talking about, let me know because I’m starting to think I imagined it. 🤨
