To be fair about the joycons colors, at the launch of the switch 1 the joycons came in 2 variations. The Red and Blue, and the Black. Now they can actually launch with even more. They can have. Red and Blue with black accents, Black with Red and Blue Accents (like we see in the trailer), Red and Blue, Black, Red, Blue. And that's all assuming it doesn't launch with any new colors.

Seeing as the 3Ds released in red, blue, and Black, I am sure Nintendo is gonna stick to that color palette for themselves but given Nintendo separately sold collab joy-cons like, say, the Splatoon joy-cons and just other random fun colors like magenta and yellow, I'm sure they'll have the same thing in shelves before year-end. It would be nice to have preorders open so you can maybe get custom colors without wasting perfectly good joycons to get a color you might want from a selection of 10 options. I personally kept my original blue and red joycons simply because I had no reason to replace them and the drifting and wearing down sure put me off but by the time it really got bad the switch 2 was already being predicted to come out eventually so I just used a controller my uncle gifted to me he found in mint condition. Now I get to save my christmas money, work the summer and get a switch by release date.

The little button looking dot on the joycons is the pin that pushes it away from the screen to demag when you want to pull the joycons off when you push the button on the back

To be fair, the trailer appears “bland,” mostly due to Nintendo already being PO’d to their cores about the Switch 2 being leaked, and just made a “here’s the trailer, now f*cking leave us alone” tone to it. It would be a completely different story if it never gotten leaked to *this* extent, that way they still have the element of surprise tucked up in their sleeves to actually impress everybody that’s interested. It’s also a key thing to not forget that the colors of the Switch 2 we saw in the trailer isn’t the only set of colors they have, as they will have more, as they always have with the DS, 3DS, Game Boy, etc. This’ll just be the base set of colors they have, much like the original Switch just being grey, while the alternate set has the neon blue, and neon red we’re used to seeing mostly in marketing. Also, I’m pretty sure the “buttons” that Sean saw are probably magnetic detachment pins, where the buttons on the back of the joycons are used to retract the magnets (as seen from the sides, where the SL/SR buttons are located) to remove the joycons from the Switch.

@ Mouse and keyboard is better for types of games like MOBA, FPS, and RTS, as well as the convenience of being able to upgrade a computer to meet specs for new releases instead of buying a new console, additionally having all of the non gaming utilities that consoles lack is a big factor. The only advantages consoles have over PC are exclusive games and pricing.

A small percentage of Nintendo’s fanbase who kept up with the leaks changing their opinion of the Switch 2 overnight because *checks notes* it’s exactly what they wanted but with 8x more powerful tech and backwards compatibility? Two things the switch doesn't have, let me add. I'm not accusing Jack of anything, but I'm really annoyed by the comments people have made about the trailer and how journalists handled the leaks. I watched a video of someone who has a physical replica of the Switch 2 and he addressed the issue with the joycoys. The way the joycons are supposed to go in is to slide in and stick magnetically, obviously. But the fit of the everything won't allow you much space to move your joycons trying to slide it in, making it nearly impossible to bend it the joycons around the connector at all. The best example I can give is what he also described as sliding in a game cartridge into the system.

8:15 brother, it doesn't look like a steam deck, it looks like a Switch, but bigger, maybe because it's a Switch 2? The original was all black, minus they Joy-cons, which were originally GRAY, and if we ignore the Joy-cons altogether, this has more color than the original, with the red and blue in the indents. And of course there will be all variety of colors for the joycons, as there are different colors for every other console's controllers, that aren't just black/white. I love Jacksepticeye, but many of the points he makes are absolutely awful if you think about it for 2 seconds.

I do think more color would be fun. But considering I always opted to change to black joycons (or just stuck with the white for the OLED), I don't mind the black joycons. I just hope they've solved the drift problem. Like most of my third party controllers don't have drift, but so many of my joycons have had it, as well as a few of my pro controllers.

I've heard from alot of PS5 owners that they suffer from drift really bad too and Sony doesn't really allow for 3rd party options. I would love for all first party to move to magnetic joysticks... it would really make the financial investment much more worth it. I'm hoping with how competitive the third party controller market is getting that it will push first party to that.

Probably because they wanted the player experience to be equal no matter where you play it. Because if everybody knew docked gave the Switch more power then everybody would be using it docked. And at that point they should have just made a normal console. Not a handheld.

The way TotK's (and BotW's) engine is designed should make it scale with the improved hardware pretty flawlessly. Others, like the Pokemon games on Switch 1, probably won't benefit without heavy patching that's not likely to happen. It'll be a on a game by game basis if or not they run better on Switch 2.

I'm a 911 dispatcher and I'm always playing my switch at work during down times. I've had so many officers ask me if I like it and if they should finally pull the trigger and get one for their kids or if I think a newer better handheld will come out. I said no way because the switch is already so great, and still is. Then they put this trailer out and I was worried I gave the wrong advice. Until I saw the trailer and realized it's the same thing. I hope Nintendo doesn't start pulling an Apple where every newer version is just the same shit but slightly better (that they definitely could've put into the last iPhone but didn't so they could boost sales).

I hope the Dock is heavier and the grip is a bit better for when the switch is docked, just so it cant be knock over as easily. I'm assuming there will be more colorful controllers released after the first launch. The first switch controllers were a dark grey, the red and blue were the second and most popular coloured controllers post launch.

On the topic of the Switch Dock, I almost wish they would have incorporated a 2nd Monitor into that, allowing you to have a map or see your inventory or give other information on that screen while allowing your TV or the Switch's Main Screen to be freed up from clutter so you can play without intrusive HUDs eating up so much of your view.

The joycon sliding on the surface in the trailer are supposed to be like computer mice. So if Nintendo adds a DS NSO app to the Switch 2, do you think they could work like the DS' stylus so we could interact with the bottom of the screen in the games that require that feature? @@musicimpact7120gyro isn’t used for level creation in Mario maker 2. In handheld mode, you can use your fingers to make a level which is fine but the menus are designed for controllers. In TV Mode, you have to use the joysticks to make the level. It’s not the worst thing in the world but when everyone was so used to the perfect menus of Mario Maker 1 on the Wii U and 3DS, Mario Maker 2’s building UI was a significant downgrade in comparison

but the switch and games on it are always advertised in color, that's the point. in this trailer it looks like the only customizable parts are the ones already in the iconic red and blue. Im sure they will make non gray joycons, but this doesnt promise that, the trailer is telling you "all we have is gray joycons with colored accents", there is no reason in the trailer for us to believe they will have more colorful and fun looks. Maybe i just got unlucky with my switch but i always had a problem with my joycons not staying in the slided spot. I'd be playing handheld and suddenly my game would be interrupted by the message of "change controller/your right joycon has disconnected". I'd give my joycon a nudge to test that it was locked in place and it would just slide out. I'd place it back hearing the CLICK to ensure it was in place but after some time the same would happen again. anyways I'm looking forward to the new magnetized slots. 11:14 i never considered this, but that would be super cool.

The mention of the lack of colour/appearance, it reminds me of the comments on logos going more and more "boring" and "basic" - which is sadly true. I also expect that they'll just really take advantage of a bunch of skins or colour variations for it. Never got to own the original Switch, so it's interesting to hear the comparison about the dock and stuff. Definitely hope the backwards compatible works, because that's always been a major flaw (IMO) on consoles.

Maybe they are trying to cater to parents by trying to be the rival of like play station and xbox. Basically like saying "hey parents, we know your kid wants the newest play station or xbox and it's expensive. So, come get them a ns2! It looks similar and you get to pay at a lower price! I literally bought my first switch (oled) 6 months ago, then this shit happens. I even got custom shells and accessories. I've had issues with it from day one. At the moment it's behaving. This thing better be worth it I swear to fuck. I hope they fix the stick drift and the connection issues.
