Yeah I do feel like the scene at the son's grave didn't hit as hard as it could've, Jordan. Like if the dad had stopped the mom from blaming everything all on her own and said that it was his fault as well for not realizing what he might've been doing to his family until it was too late would've been the right call to make in my honest opinion. It just feels like his obsession was painted as an entirely good thing at the end when it never should be. Otherwise the story was pretty good and engaging! I liked the characters and most of the story writing. great job on this

I think it was less that the son was teaching his dad a lesson and more as a cry for attention and understanding. The son became the crow killer to finally have his fathers attention. 51:31 fun fact; this song in the flashback is actually from an album called ‘Everywhere At The End Of Time’ by the caretaker (or EATEOT), this six hour long album is meant to represent the stages of dementia, a disease that slowly rots the brain, taking years before it becomes debilitating. It’s very harrowing and dreadful, which I think matches with the game perfectly. (The song itself is called ‘Late afternoon drifting’ for those who are curious). The entire album is digitally composed and sampled if you guys wanted to know.

This story makes kind of sense, considering it's called the final pin. All the evidence led to the house and he could have just gone there but decided not to because he needed that illusional ´final pin´. His son got sick and tired and created one, forcing his dad to show up at the house at last. If he got there sooner before his son became the killer, Tony and Carlos would be still alive. All this is just for a final pin and in the end wasn't even worth the trouble.
@riskingrain156011 ай бұрын
Not really. I feel like this what wouldn't have realistically gone down. And I agree with everything Sean said at the end about the story. I felt like it would been at least more realistic and better if Kevin would of repeatedly tried to intervene through the game to stop his dad's obsession of solving the case and maybe throughout the game seeing his dad's line of work to either understand a little more why he's doing it or possibly get frustrated even more about his dad solving a case that he most likely wasn't going to solve in the end, before ever going to the point of straight up becoming a serial killer (Though I rather not be the case,and the crow killer- just remains the same crow killer that definitely needed to be stopped from the start). As- it just felt more out of nowhere he ends up killing people who especially were just trying to do their line of work.

So glad Jack pointed out how weird it was that Linda took all the blame when she was completely valid in wanting to leave. Like when she started apologizing I was so put off because his obsession was a part of the problem...but the ending is just her invalidating her own feelings and blaming herself as if both her and her son didn't try to have a conversation about it when it was getting really bad. I mean at the end of the day it's just a story but the ending felt kind of unsatisfying in that regard. Like she was just caught in a moment of weakness and told you what you wanted to hear so that she wouldn't be alone. ;-;

1:04:44 This is so crazy Sean! Right before you walked into this section, I thought, “man, Sean is so so good at voicing characters! It’s a shame that developers always ask him to be ‘super Irish’ for them in their games.. he has such a wide range, they should really use his talents and have him voice characters like the one he is doing here!” 😃❤️👍🏼 Edit: to be fair, Berlin was just himself as well, lol..

A couple more contributions to your collection of grizzled detective lines: "I keep seven shots on me. Six are .45s, one's 45%." "I got three slugs in me. One's lead, two are bourbon." "I always travel with my two best pals. One I keep in a holster, the other I keep in a flask."

So glad Jack called out how low key sexist the ending was to have Linda just say everything was her fault when she had every right to be mad bc he was def a shitty husband

Even though the game wasn't entirely serious, this was the first time in a while a game had put me on edge. There's some plot holes and design flaws, but all in all it did it's job as a horror game. I liked it for the most part. I was invested in the story and the voice acting was on top, glad you're out here playing games like this for others to discover Sean.

THANK YOU!! I'm so glad you pointed out that cliche ass 1950s movie ending where everything is on the wife, even though the husband did all the damage. I felt SO bad for Kevin. He did wrong , but he was turned into a monster. For him to just be replaced at the end was so disrespectful and gross to me lol. Great game, shit ending.

Jack, I just wanted to take a moment due to my rare early appearance to a video of yours to let you know how thankful we all are for you as a person. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model who deals deeply in both humor and love, I am so glad to have discovered your channel all those years ago, when I was in middle school and celebrated with you for hitting the one million subscriber milestone; and even now, as someone who finds solace in solidarity, I manage find comfort in your presence even while I navigate through college, though I don't believe it's by my doing or a predisposition of my personality that makes watching your videos special, it's you, and I believe that answer is the same for all who are reading this. So, thank you, Sean.

There was actually a sight created where you had to have both eyes opened to use it. Inside the sight itself is a red dot on a black background (meaning you can't see through it), and how it worked is you basically had your vision merge so you could still aim with the dot

Fun Fact: The Caretaker (the main artist of the music played throughout the game as credited at the end) is most famous for his albums An Empty Bliss Beyond This World and Everywhere at the End of Time, which reflect the deteriorating mind of an Alzheimer's patient, nowadays often associated with the liminal spacing phenomenon. The music is similar: jazzy, forlorn pieces with a hint of nostalgia that sound distant.

Bruh this was such a great game, it was so engaging and it really added something that so many of these games miss: engaging gameplay! Like you had more to do than just run away from the killer, it had more story that made you feel for the characters. I think Jack said some good points at the end about the minor plot holes, the mother’s dialogue, but truthfully compared to these other ps1 styled modern games: this was SO good!

My only gripe is the story / lore / writing needs to be better, but overall it's good. It is a genre I love with tropes I love.
