I personally think the Mask's power just has you give in to the feelings of fun and joy in your heart, and if your fun is pure, it'll infect others and bring out the fun and joy in them. The detective resisting so easily just means he's a miserable person. That's why Stanley is such a living cartoon while wearing it. That kind of stuff is what brings him joy. While Dorian becomes even more savage and cruel, as being a cut-throat gangster and being in control of the room is what makes him smile.
@RemingtonDean2 ай бұрын
That detective is actually the main character in the comics. Long after Stanley Ipkiss is killed for being a murderous lunatic, the detective keeps chasing the true culprit, the Mask itself.

I remember watching this scene for the first time. This movie was also the best CGI could give at that time (I know there is minimal CGI in this scene, just him flying off the ramp), but anyway, everybody was just blown away, and when this scene came up, people were belly laughing. I remember thinking this was the funniest scene I've ever seen. The movie was just culminating to this part and at this point we lost it. When I watch it now I can't really get why we had such an explosive reaction, and I miss those times.

I think because it's so over the top and proud of it. I mean, the scene is utterly ridiculous, but in such a good natured, big hearted way you find yourself being drawn into it. Jim Carrey really put everything he had into the scene, he didn't leave one drop at the start gate..

That's understandable considering this dude would have bizarre expressions, like his tongue rolling out like a mat and his eyes sometimes popping out of their sockets. When I start to dance, Everything goes chick-chicky-boom, chick-chicky boom The senoritas they sing and they swing with terampero- It's very nice, so full of spice. And when they dance in they bring a happy ring that era keros- Singin' a song, all the day long. So if you like the beat, take a lesson from Cuban Pete And I'll teach you to chick-chicky-boom, chick-chicky-boom. He's really a modest guy, although he's the hottest guy In Havana, in havana. Si, sinorita I know that you would like to chicky-boom-chick It's very nice, so full of spice. I'll place my hand on your hip, and if you will just give me your hand Then we shall try - just you and I. I-yi-yi!
