I was born with this too, and I've struggled my whole life with muscle pain and weakness. 37 years old and I just got my first cane and walker due to the neuropathy that this has caused.

3000 mg of potassium cholride for me every day found it at age 14 and i got it genetically so i have gitelman syndrome for life , yiur not alone it does suck but everyone that has gitleman syndrome remember this anytime u puke or have bad diarrhea u need to go to er to get potassium through iv asap!!! i had mine drop to 2.1 which is dangerous and im lucky i didnt die. Ive already had heart arythmias when my potassium gets low bc its supposed to be at a 3.5 or higher fir me i take 2 pills 1 20meq pill in the morning and 1 at night around 6pm it sucks tbh but im glad they found it bc of how mines been getting wirse foctor expects me to be on dialysis when im 40 or esrlier bc theyve upped my dose 2 times now and i have issues with my potassium from time to time. Im lucky to be here as we speak. I truly hope more doctors reaserch this bc every doctor ive had has had to look uo what gitleman is bc theyve never even heard of it tbh

@@Bob-it2bf I'm sure YOURS isn't, and I'm glad for that for your sake. But there are varying severities. My husband's is no picnic, but still is quite disruptive to his quality of life. A friend with it (met through a support group) is so bad that she's in and out of the hospital quite frequently and struggles with everyday tasks. Just because yours is "not that bad" doesn't mean everyone living with it has the same experience.

I got diagnosed at 14. 10 pills a day and a ton of salty foods.

Be aware too much sodium will dehydrate u more and will reduce potassium levels was told a high salt diet by my doctor but it's not 100% true yes we have to have higher consumption if salt than a normal person but it's not too much more and too much sodium overtime will affect blood pressure tbh with u.

I have this and played rugby in high school. had it since I was 5 years old. A pitcher just stands there so it isn't even inspiring.
