Thank you for this informative post. It is wonderful to see how the site is preserved and the tour presented. I have been enthralled by Pollack since I was an art student at UC Berkeley and was blown away by a Krasner show at LACMA in the 90's. This makes me really want to make the pilgrimage. Brilliant post!

Thank you, Aladdin. Definitely you should check out this site...if you are a Pollock (sp)/Krasner fan like I am, you'll be blown away. Thanks so much for the comment (and by the way if you are a fan of NY Abstract Expressionism..I should mention that I knew Robert Motherwell personally...lots of stories.) ADEM always cuts me for name dropping!

Thanks, I've played the Satie. Just by watching you play, I've already picked up a few things. You've got it structured so well, and it's so easy to see your hands, and to understand your jazz piano thinking. Very cool.

+Laura Jasper That's a very cool comment. I'm glad that how I'm showing things and explaining things is clear and helpful to you. I just do what comes natural...but I've been teaching for a long time and this you tube experience is NEW to me.... so I really appreciate the affirmation.

+Laura G Thank You for the comment. Please forward the video if you know any one that might enjoy seeing it. It was a nice day trip for us...4 ferry rides! and a beautiful part of Long Island, NY. Are you a fan of their art?
@LJG9079 жыл бұрын
Kent Hewitt Yes. I love piano players, too. I will do just that. You took the Orient Point ferry? It is a nice ride, indeed. Next time, take the Port Jefferson ferry and visit another wonderful area. The Dicken's Festival is this weekend. Come if you can. What part of Ct. are you in?
@KentHewittpiano889 жыл бұрын
+Laura G The Orient Ferry is a nice hour long ride and ends up near Greenport which is a great little sea- coast town. There are a lot of wine vineyards in that area, The ferry rides over (and back) to Shelter island are short and picturesque and you end up in Sag Harbor (Steinbeck country) which is a wonderful town. Then it's a short ride to the PK museum. Only used 1/4 of a tank of gas from Pleasure beach, Waterford, CT. I have taken the Port Jeff ferry in the past, I didn't know about the Dicken's Festival...must be grand! Thanks for response.

Kent Hewitt They have quite an itinerary in regards to music and other festivities. That is my home town. However, the East End has its own flavor as does wonderful Ct. You have a special talent. I will share in the near future. Warm greetings and all the best this holiday season ...

I made a drip painting back in the fifties inspired by Pollock. I also used to take ink on paper and blow it with a straw.

+Lee Clarke That's really cool, Lee. I got to hang out with artists Robert Motherwell and Carmen Cicero, both abstract impressionist from New York all through the 70's and 80's. Carmen is a sax player and we do concerts on Cape Cod every summer. Check him out on Google. PS: did you give my video a thumbs up? Thanks!

Since many philosopher have written about the concept of beauty , I would like to listen to philosophy profs , To see how do they connect the issue of sublime experience most people feel about pollock’s work , with some philosophy concepts regarding these work of arts,

There has been so much written about Pollock's work, life, ...biographies, etc. I'm sure you will find it if you Google. This is just a personal experience I and my partner had. If you want my opinion, just ask. Please subscribe!

Just discovered your amazing piano tutorials. Ironically I live in Springs NY, not far from the Pollack Krasner house. What is the piece you are playing, Bach?
@KentHewittpiano888 жыл бұрын
+Laura Jasper Thanks for the comment. The music is a generic piece provided by youtube audio files that I had to use because of copyright laws. It's called Allemande (that's all it says) and I suspect it's one of the Bach French Suites played by Wahneta Meixsell.. The second piece is a Satie Gymnopedie, which I'm sure you recognize.

@@KentHewittpiano88 I know the piece is by Bach, but I have heard very few pianists play it so well. Usually Glenn Gould is ragged out for Bach and I can't stand it. Thanks for letting me know.

It's wonderful piano playing (not mine). It was intended to concentrate on the music and art, not the dialog...you'll have to go to the museum for that...encouragement.

@@KentHewittpiano88 I am not discussing my cultural preferences. Your video is worthless. It's deceiving, to say the least. Please take it down.

The piano music is too loud, and adds nothing to the video.

Wrong...I made this video to encourage you to go there in person to hear the lecture...so the art and music are an integral part. I'm a musician, the music enhances the experience, for me. I'm very sorry.

This is a video about listening to piano music. Can't hear what the person is saying. To bad!
@KentHewittpiano884 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that....this is not a documentary...but it was intended to inspire people to go to the museum...and so it wasn't necessary to hear the spoken words, but through music and video to be tempted to go there and experience it for yourself. Dig?
