That was wonderful, Kent. I really enjoyed trying to keep up with your hands. (I wan't able.) Love your variations on the chords. I've been listening to Ronnie Aldrich and his 2 Pianos performing this piece for days. Can't get enough of it.

From the first chord I could hear this piano is slightly out of tune. I may not have perfect pitch but I'm very sensitive to tuning.

Beautifully complemented the lesson of the super locrian/altered dominant scale. I’ve been taking the 2-5-1 through all 12 keys altering the dominant 5th. Opens up so many soloing improv options.

Another great lesson and insight into a scale I rarely if ever use. Some fantastic licks and opens up some more options. Really enjoyed

Terrific lesson. Originally I struggled wrapping my head around this scale. This is beautifully explained and demonstrated. Especially the starting note, when to start on the half note or the whole note.

you can catch the trill in the 14th measure by bringing the thumb under to the B natural and playing the Bb with third finger. then the second finger naturally falls on the Gb :)

STRONGLY RECOMMEND. I’ve been using Kent’s books and they are just amazing! If you’re a beginner, just start here and it will save you years of going through other far-less-effective books. If you’re intermediate or advanced, it is very to-the-point to become a good (jazz) musician. Very well thought through by a great teacher. Also great together with the many videos. Worth every penny in gold 🏆 Special thanks for this endorsement: barco (long time subscriber) Reply Kent Hewitt Cancel Reply

Hi Kent - how do you know which chords to alter? And what's behind the decision to use super locrian / melodic minor? Thanks!
@KentHewittpiano8813 күн бұрын
That's requires a lesson...not a simple answer. Go to my playlists on improvisation. www.youtube.com/@KentHewittpiano88/playlists: A quick answer is that the super locrian scale fits a dominant 7thb9#5 chord...which is the desired chord in this case.

Kent's is the best book. He reminds us amongst all the scales and progressions, it is a feel for creating great music that he's teaching us. This video shows how to transform your playing through levels. So it's possible to go back through his 2 volumes and play next level, while refreshing on knowledge of the basics. Thank you, Kent
