Jackson’s Watercolor Sale Haul

Hey friends! Jackson’s had a Watercolor Sale, and I could not help myself. Here are the products that I picked up. Let’s look at them together and swatch out some beautiful paints.

Oh you've got the absolute best💗 A Gallo are simply astonishingly brilliant quality, as are the Tintoretto travel brushes you get in their palettes. They're just a joy to use (I've slowly bought up my collection and have around 60 of her paints now and they're top of my tree alongside Roman Szmal and Schmincke in terms of quality and sheer pleasure to paint with). ETA: The A Gallo palette you have seems to be the Illumina collection, it's still available directly from A Gallo themselves if anyone else is interested in it. It's inspired by illuminated manuscripts. Enjoy! ETA More: The Kuretake paints are also wonderful, especially on the Khadi fat pads or anything with a rougher texture. They're traditional Japanese watercolours, so far more opaque but you can still water them down to a good transparency. I love to use them for doodling and then inking over or with a pointed mop Chinese calligraphy style brush. Kuretake also do a whole range of other sets, including some gorgeous metallics, opals, gem colours and graphite. The set you've got is the smaller of the Art Nouveau sets which were designed to be more muted and work in duo/trios of light/medium/dark etc.

I bought from Etsy a Handmade watercolors called Essee ,They are nice granulating Earthy watercolors. Roman szmal also my favorite.

I was already bummed that I missed Jackson's sale (it was either a short one or I didn't find it 'til it was nearly over so never got my order in on time!). But now I'm really sorry I missed it because I just ordered that Illumination set with the wooden palette from the A. Gallow website (& probably paid more for it). But it's beautiful! Thanks for showing it, now I can't wait for it to arrive. I also think I'm going to have to invest in some more Schmincke paints. I think I'll try mixing my own granulating colors though - Galaxy Violet is a mix of Potter's Pink & Ultramarine Blue, for example. How fun!

Just as an FYI in case you weren't aware, Jackson's sales usually last a full week only (depending on product), they usually announce them in their newsletters so it's worth signing up for them.

Jackson's has a shipping location in Fairfield, Maine....if your items are in the USA warehouse,, then they arrive quickly if you are in the States....If items are not in the US warehouse, then my orders have come from the UK. Order in the usual way.

When I went on the Jackson’s website a few days ago it automatically routes me to the US site and doesn’t even let me see the UK one. I think the US one is way newer too, very few reviews on products etc. It’s annoying as I wanted to see the UK but can’t. Back when I ordered my Escoda brushes last year the UK was the only site.

The "Gansai Tambi" is the type of watercolor paint, not the brand. The brand is Kuretake.

The brush is most likely natural hair and not a synthetic brush. Natural hair are usually squirrel and the brushes are floppy. My favorite brush of all time is the escoda reserva squirrel hair brush. I’ve never painted with anything as heavenly. I also do have a Tintoretto brush and A. Gallo paint. I have the natural set and absolutely love it! As for the Jackson’s sale, I ordered a full set of Lutea paint. If you are not familiar with it, it is absolutely gorgeous and I am beyond excited to get it! It’s very expensive but I waited for a sale to get it. Thanks for the video!

These special Italian pocket brushes are available in sizes 2-4-6-8 in synthetic Kazan 1327 or traditional mop brush 1337 variations! Both 1327 or 1337 series Tintoretto brushes are made with synthetic Kazan squirrel fibers, have excellent color retention and softness, as well as great tip thinness and resistance to use.

For the Kuretake Gansai Tambi paint pans, a piece of double sided tape on two edges holds them in place really well.

Neat. I don’t have any schminke or agallo or natural hair brushes (well there maybe be one or two in my mix and a few paints with ox gall or bone char that haven’t caused me too much of an issue allergy wise. I feel like I am ready to find myself some more colors that I just love across the brands. I am very heavy handed with my paints and need a very transparent set to work with, I think.

I love the Kuretakei wc but be careful with the pastel shades, they do not play well with other colors. They leave a white chalky milky layer when blended with darker colours. You really have to play with them to “get them”.

I have the complete set of these wonderful paints. They do take a little bit of a learning curve as they are not traditional Western water color paints biggest thing to remember. The colors are fun. Including their metallic Starry gold's Metallic.Sets and their new art novel set. Have fun. try all that you can. It will not be wasted.

The stickiness of paint and the paint not doing well and travel pilots is not a bad sign it's a sign of honey being in the paint like on Graham which is in my opinion and many other people's opinion top of the line watercolor paint but it doesn't do good in travel palettes or if you live in a human environment because there's so much honey in it it stays wet

I’ve only ever seen the travel box you have in teal, in gold. Where did you find it in teal? Ironically before you showed the wood A Gallow box I thought you were going to show the gold version of the metal travel one.
