Only TWO out of the 20 bands that performed over the two days at Bandfest received a FULL standing ovation: JSU and Kyoto Tachibana. I would love to see a future Rose Parade showcasing nothing but HBCU bands. They are exceptional and always a hit with the crowds. Congratulations JSU!

Jackson State Sonic Boom of The South has always been the model for the swac band culture. For them to travel all the way from MS to wow audiences is so well deserved. I graduated from JSU in 2012 and even back then the Sonic Boom was eatin it up!!! I hope this band can be chosen for more jobs and exposure to HBCU culture for people across the world. No band has a sound like The Sonic Boom because they created the sound. Thee standard. Proud Alum #JSUTigers

@@jeanmurray1387 many hours of practice and dedication! I marched at another HBCU (Alabama State University) & our summer band camps ran from 4am-8pm & practice during the semester was from 4-until whenever they said so every night 😅 every other HBCU works just as hard
