I love how the Boom did not water down shit about who they are. It’s why their performance stands out even among all the HBCUs that have done this parade. They were black, loud, and unapologetically HBCU. 10 out of 10!

I’m a Alcornite. And now older. I support all HBCU now especially if from MS to represent somewhere. Roses invited them because they are the BOOM. And the what they do is why they were invited in the first place. I’m glad they showed out. What I didn’t like is people “workers” rushing them to keep moving. Damn let them show the people why they were invited. And what the band is about. They came to see a show. Not just watch people walk by and wave. Great job JSU.

Just another demonstration of why JSU is my favorite marching band. It doesn’t matter the changeover they have with students, the same flavor, swag, pride and talent appears. I have watched every one of their Rose Parade clips I can find. They are fabulous and kudos to their conditioning to march that distance while carrying heavy equipment, dancing, singing, jumping and performing their asses off! THe Boom showed out all weekend. The people behind the Rose Bowl should be pushing Boom clips all over the place. LOL at them thinking they needed to rush the BOOM. Honestly, you need a gap with the BOOM. On TV they kept having to switch mics because you could hear the BOOM over the groups in front and behind them. Plus, we all know that we get to a point where the parade kind of stops. Kev definitely has the best footage out there

Seeing this band brought back so many memories for me. My three children played in the marching abd concert band from 6th grade all through college. I know how my heart ❤️ would feel seeing my children stepping themselves in a football game, parade or at special events. I traveled on the buses with the band. Talk about hilarious and nosy at the same time. I'm so happy that I had that experience.

Loving it and watching numerous times. They excellently represented JSC, HBCUs, and any high-stepping band. This is my first time actually watching the Rose Bowl Parade with anticipation. As a band person in the 60s and 70s and a parent of a band participant, I am glad they stopped to perform. Marching, Playing and Dancing in step. Honda does a Battle of the HBCU Bands...and ESPN does a battle of the HBCU bands. Also there is sometimes a Crank Fest Battle with several HBCU bands...primarily SWAC Bands. If you attend any HBCU game in the SWAC conference, the band's play 2 stand battles (Zero Quarter before the football game... and 5th Quarter battle after the game). Plus each performs a halftime show. If you have bands with lots of sheet music, you might get an additional 10 songs each...besides the Halftime songs. So it is just a 2 band battle in those instances...but "rival" bands and dance teams give you your music-money's worth.

They have a clear thick plastic chin strap on it to keep it from falling off,well some are clear and some are white

@@Kaedyn_daye I know about the strap on all band hats. I've worn that hat before (another band of course) and the strap only helps. The hats are pretty top heavy and with all of their routines, the strap only helps so much to keep them on straight even if they don't fall off.

Can’t we just applaud the physicality of the band💯. Marching for over 2 hours with instruments non-stop without a break: Geesh 🎹🎵🎼🎶🎤. Child, I would not have last 5 minutes, the reason I attempted the saxophone and band and dropped out. I became a majorette later, the 1st male😂🏳️‍🌈at my school: we were the Cotton Candy. Then, I played Football 😂. This was of course in the 6th and 7th grade. 8 through 12 the school chorus and drama🎥🎬. Now 58, I still majorette 😂👀👍🏿.
