Hey, I got a Golden Boy for my birthday - it's amazing, great job Jackson Audio ! I have a predection - as of today there are 113 Golden Boys in stock on the JA website (29 July 2020). I heard on Monday that That Pedal Show will be demoing the pedal in the next week or so - let's watch how fast they sell out once that show goes out ! Get one now would be my advice ! Limited to 500 units at this stage. Joey is a fab player, quite a magician.

Been through so many drives I lost count, all the hype drives, stacked so many combos over the years…I ended up with just one golden boy, it literally took the spot of 2 of my all time favorite drives to stack (benson preamp, and Browne protein), I had this before those and went down the overdrive tone rabbit hole and ended up back here and so happy, it’s does everything I want and more and at such a high quality

I just got my Golden Boy today from the website and dang, it was a Joey Signature one I didn't even expect BUT, After messing around with this thing with no manual in hand but trusting these 62 year old ears Anyhoo, after figuring out the modes in both drive and boost and messing with the tone controls etc. I LOVE THIS PEDAL to pieces. In my 50 years of playing I have never had any pedal that just IS freekin right!!!! I so want to get an El Guapo and a Mod Fuzz next as the demos Brad does of them at the NAMM show turned my tonal crank immediately!!! KILLER pedal with awesome tonal variations....WOW... Im a worship guitarist (95%electric) and Im from the old school and this pedal rocks. Wait until the congregation hears this this weekend!! Blessings! Forgot to mention this is thru a 2001 Dr Z Maz junior 2x10 combo. I can only imagine what it will sound like thru my Fargen 800 MKII, and 50w 68 Plexi... And my 1970 100W Super Lead that Ive owned for 46 years of its 50 year old life!! ;)~ This is the next morning after my post above; I REALLY LOVE this pedal.

How much tone is the player or is the pedal that great? Either way...Brad you build great amps n pedals! You are so humble at Namm! Loved watching your face when a not so good player would play your gear! Even a not so good player can sound great through your gear!

Joey is for sure a boss. I wish he wouldn’t have moved around his volume so much. It was hard to tell how much was the guitar and how much was the pedal when you change between different settings and modes. Got one coming in the mail though. I’m excited to hear myself

Love the sounds, hate the fact that the LED colour scheme isn't suited for the colourblind (me). Otherwise an incredible pedal. Cant tell the Yellow apart from the green, or the aqua apart from the blue. So sad. Edit: that's about 8-11% of all men BTW
@steveyankees14 жыл бұрын
SimonJonasMusic YES!! I’m so glad someone spoke out about that. I’m in 100% agreement. LED Color selections on pedals are so frustrating. I struggle big time with Oceans 11 pedal. I can’t tell what color I’m on. To all pedal designers- please take this into consideration!!
@darenanderson49614 жыл бұрын
I think Jackson is making some of the best designed gain pedals. The EQ and gain and boost options that you’ve created are brilliant! I recently got the Broken Arrow, and I love it. I would love a fuzz pedal with all these killer options! Any plans in the future for a Jackson fuzz?
@andrewbelmore35604 жыл бұрын
Look up the Jackson Audio NAMM video. He talks about a distortion and fuzz.
@Sasketchejuana_man3 жыл бұрын
when i first plugged it in, it seemed to sound really sterile. after some dialing in it got better. I'm kind of a leave it always on and ride the volume guy so the 25 percent volume increments are somewhat useless to me. Mostly it sounds great at 50 or 75. It does beat having multiple overdrives on a pedalboard which was my goal, but hard to say YET that it sounds better than a timmy or king of tone. I'm sure it'll grow on me more though.
@Sasketchejuana_man3 жыл бұрын
my only gripe thus far is when im using my feet to switch from green, magenta, blue, amber, my foot covers the LED light so i can't really see. Eventually ill be able to trust my ear, but im sortve looking around my foot to see what im on.

Is that microphonic pickups which are feeding-back? Great playing and looks like a very versatile pedal. The gain switching looks like it would be very handy.
@justinguitarcia4 жыл бұрын
Yep. Joey has super vintage-y p90s in that guitar. Super responsive and touch sensitive, trade off is they are a tad microphonic. That's the classic rock/ry cooder thing, you get so much expressiveness
@ShinyShinyBlack4 жыл бұрын
@Jackson Audio - do any of the versions have a "full range" on the low end? I had a POT for about a week, and couldn't stand how much low end it removed, even thought the clipping and the rest of the eq balance was so perfect. I ended up going back to a JHS Morning Glory because I got the low end back where I didn't feel like I lost something important. If this can give me what I need - the rest of the feature set seems like something I could go for.
@JacksonAudio4 жыл бұрын
Because it has an active eq, the Golden boy will allow you to ADD bass. So much so that it'll shake the paint off your walls. If you're into that sort of thing. :)

The guitar squeals a lot! Is it because of the p90s?

So in this video you state that the magenta mode is based off the king of tone but on the website it says the blue mode is based of the king of tone. Which one is it? You also state in this video the blue mode has asymmetrical clipping but the website says the magenta mode is the only mode with asymmetrical clipping...
@JacksonAudio4 жыл бұрын
I totally misspoke. Purple is KOT clipping and Blue is Timmy clipping. Green is 808 clipping and Amber is Marshall style. So sorry!

@@JacksonAudio Thanks for replying, I assumed that's what it was but wasn't sure. I have another question, I reached out to CS on Facebook the other day but hadn't heard back. To present with just 1 guitar does not give me the tone I'm looking for - Joey or not. Plus, the use of the pedal without midi is simply a total step dance mess - what if you want to get from 100% to 75% gain? No-one can do that in a live situation.
