Their defense had to keep a team with no timeouts from going 70 yards in 1:29. The offense then had 34 seconds to go 35 yards, and then 17 to go 20. This is NOT just on a dropped pass, even after that the hard part was on Atlanta.

@Archbizhop2 ай бұрын
You're 100% right about the outcome bias there lol. To be fair though, I'd be annoyed at that playcall if I were a Philly fan. The play itself was clean as hell if Barkley doesn't botch it but I don't get why you call it there. You have 2 downs to get 3 yards, and you've got the lead with no timeouts. Why aren't you calling a run play when you have the tush push to follow up?
@JBullock542 ай бұрын
@@Archbizhop Because if he pops open, the game is over. If he doesn’t, Hurts just slides down & kills off 40 sec. Great play call, bad execution. And it’s gotta be 4th & 1 or shorter to do a tush push in my opinion. ATL had the box stacked. If they don’t get it on 4th, then ATL only needs a FG to tie, and with how quick they moved the ball down for the game winning TD, it’s safe to assume that would have been no issue. Then Sirianni would have gotten killed for being too conservative lol

I wonder what the analytics on going for 4th and 3 would say in that position. I feel like there is a good argument for just going for it even there. I would guess that play will give you about a 40% success rate, you convert there and the game is over. If you fail you are now only up 3 rather than up 6. So they can tie with a FG, win with TD. Kicking the FG is probably about a 95% there, maybe 90% because of high leverage, then you still can lose if you give up TD and extra point, you just stop a FG from tying the game. You have to factor in every level of odds though, so even with a tying FG you are at about a 50% chance of still winning the game in overtime. Im not saying its black and white, but I slightly favor going for it on 4th and 3.
