Not hearing it between gears is good because that means it's staying on boost. Manual you hear it because it takes long enough to change gears that the car falls off boost.
@thewiseguy3904 жыл бұрын
Let off the gas when the turbo spools and you can hear it. Also an open intake makes it louder.
@Dabbin9162 жыл бұрын
Put it in 5th or 6th gear and give it full throttle let off and you’ll hear it well
@mhrepoman3 жыл бұрын
The diverted valve is activated by vacuum which is why you hear it when you let off the throttle. The dsg doesn't come off the throttle doing full throttle acceleration shifting. The reason it's louder at certain rpms is because it has built more boost to then be released when you let off the throttle. If you want to hear it from shift to shift, then let off the throttle, shift, then get back on the throttle in manual mode.
@Not_Lewis3 жыл бұрын
The recirculating value is actuated by throttle position and is activated by a solenoid. He mentioned solenoid in the video. My Ecoboost mustang had a very similar spacer installed by the previous owner. On my car the valve would open every time the throttle was decreased to a certain threshold, even when in 6th gear and not building boost. These parts are a waste of money for such a gimmicky feature.

I've heard widely that this does NOT give a check engine light, but in my experience I got a MAP sensor correlation code that would go away when I took it off. Makes sense since (as I understand) the intake is expecting that "diverted" air. I run a JB4 on Map 3 that gets me ~6 psi over stock boost, so no crazy tune but maybe that has something to do with it. Just my experience, again I've mostly heard it does not throw a CEL but it did for me.
@overknight5278 Жыл бұрын
Did you ever install the DV back? Or replace it with a true blow off valve. I got a CEL for the MAP sensor as well and now the car is lagging on take off. Its for an 17 A3 I also figure its the DV but i havent had a chance to remove it, and i only came to that conclusion b/c its realistically the only thing that makes sense (i did install a downpipe same day tho lol). Maybe the ecu expects there to be more air pressure but looses it b/c of the spacer? But thats the best i think of
@charlie_mk7.57 ай бұрын
To anyone researching on a DV spacer : start by doing an open intake, that's where you'll hear A LOT more turbo noises, and then if you want some more, you can add a DV spacer.

lift the throttle once you make the boost - to hear it - and not just to hear it, that's the time it actually works - performance wise it will bleed excess air into the atmosphere - which should save your turbo from spooling(when you are on track, driving car to the max) and maybe less the lag and have better throttle response. on K03 turbo you can install blow off partially and fully, you have some content on yt for that. Nothing is better then real blow off, but this is imitating it - nothing else. if you are on Stage 1 with boost ~ 1.3 bar, it will be of a greater use - if you got the point. More boost = more load = more to vent = more sound = ... i changed my diverter rev c for rev d and now I ordered spacer and will do the installation and leave a comment once I make, what are my results and feeling around it. Cheers to all.

@RyBarRecon4 жыл бұрын
Of course a Blow Off Valve/Diverter Spacer isn't going to make much noise on the upshifts, it's only to release built up boost pressure in-between shifts or deceleration. With a DSG you don't have time for pressure release between shifts as well as the recirculation helps keep the turbo spooled so you don't end up with "turbo lag". Also, I would never install a blow off valve that costs $40 even on a beater car...

Question! How do I make my GTI sound like a Twin Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo? :-P
Trade it in for a twin turbo Gallardo or swap in a twin turbo v10 from a Gallardo lol. In reality if you want it to sound more aggressive like that, you gotta do a bunch of performance mods. Turbo upgrade, injectors, downpipe, intercooler, BOV, wastegate, exhaust, intake, cams and custom engine software tuning. If you build a 2.0T up a ways it will sound far more aggressive. I used to have a built 2.0T gti with 400hp and it sounded pretty roudy. Now I'm building an Audi RS3 now and it sounds really aggressive! It sounds aggressive stock, after the turbo upgrade, full exhaust, intake and software tuning it gets mean! I'm at about 450-500hp right now and would like to see 525- 550
