But yeah, you guys being first responders are on the front lines and witness first hand the brutality of motor vehicle accidents. First responders have my utmost respect in what they do, as these professions are not for everyone. I think there should be more channels like yours to educate the public and promote safe driving, because there's nothing that hits harder than reality itself. There's just way too many drivers on the roads not using common sense and logic, which could prevent and avoid a lot of these accidents we see.

A firefighter with 42 years of experience was very impressed with the coordinated effort to extricate the patients. A while back had a pickup truck that ran into rear of dump truck. Driver was so tied up we had to cut through the firewall to release his legs. Had another triple fatal where we had to use two winch systems to straighten out the vehicle enough to remove the patient. His leg went out the window, around a stop sign and back in the window. He lost an arm and a leg but living today as result of amazing effort of US and Japanese firefighters! Keep in mind that extrication is literally removing the vehicle from the patient, not the patient from the vehicle.

Yea. Had one where we literally cut the driver's seat out of the car and then pulled the car away from it leaving it sitting in place on block in the road due to the driver having sever spinal pain and obvious pelvic injuries. 80+ years old, so we just removed the compact car from around her. THEN gently extricated her straight to the helicopter's stretcher. Moved her 1 time only on scene. Turned out she had fractures at C 3&4, T 4&5, and L 1&2, plus a two-inch pelvic separation. Also 3 cracked ribs and a hairline femur fracture. Never forget that call. It was also a double fatality. Occupants of the other vehicle died at the hospital despite all we and the ER could do for them.
