Practice & Training facility - $60MM Contracted/Under Construction 1. Four Seasons Hotel - $257MM Proposed 1. Entertainment district - $475-568MM 2. Stadium renovation - $400-466MM Total invested: $1,260MM - $1,419MM Anyone thinking he is floating some propaganda to fool the city of Jacksonville into believing he wants the team to be here while he actually wants to move the team is absurd and shows how ignorant Florio is about this city, this team, this owner, and these fans. Shad Khan is IN PROGRESS of BUILDING a 4 SEASONS hotel, a Jaguars Headquarters business park and a BRAND NEW Jaguars practice facility (which will be COMPLETE July 1st). He’s also purchased ALL the land around the existing stadium. In addition, he’s launched meaningful initiatives and investments into Jacksonville proper and low income communities around the stadium. He’s even invested money into redirecting BRIDGE traffic. He’s invested MILLIONS into the Jacksonville riverfront area called “The Shipyards,” which was basically untouchable because of toxic ash and chemicals buried there by shipbuilders since WWII. The Jags will probably get what they want because, like the Bills and Packers, the people in the area will want it because without their NFL team they are basically off the map. But if they were to move anywhere Orlando would be more likely than London. Jax has a metro area population of 1.3 mil, Orlando has a metro area population of 2.5 mil. Orlando has everything Jax doesn't: world class attractions, tons of hotels and restaurants, slightly higher GDP per capita, 70 MILLION tourists compared to Jax's 70 thousand, world class airport. Also Orlando is a huge tourist spot for people from the UK, they have direct flights from both Heathrow and Gatwick. If Shad Kahn wanted to he easily could be building this stadium on the bones of Camping World Stadium instead of TIAA Bank Field and the team would be more successful.

On a semi related note I think Orlando doesn't have more pro-teams because they view Tampa and Orlando as the same market. But that's not really the case, even though the two cities are near each other geographically they are more like sibling rivals than counterparts. For example I know people here in Orlando (including myself) that are Jags fans simply because they are a Florida team that is not Tampa (or Miami). There are practically no Rays/Bucs/Lightning fans in Orlando and there are practically no Magic fans in Tampa. Assuming that Orlando are going to be fans of Tampa teams is like assuming Milwaukee are going to be Chicago Blackhawks fans...not gonna happen.

Orlando is a landlocked armpit too close to Tampa. Jax has beaches and some of the best golfing.

Orlando also has... An economy that can barely support one "major league" franchise (one of the lowest per median incomes in America forever) A tiny corporate presence (one Fortune 500 company to Jacksonville's three) A wholly unacceptable stadium by NFL standards (the Pro Bowl moved out after 3-4 years... really stop and think about that one) Possibly the most fragmented NFL fanbase of any city in America (mainly split among the FL teams, but also with a heavy Northeast/Midwest presence) And even though I agree with the second point you made, Tampa Bay (and prob Miami as well) would still raise hell about any team trying to bite deeper into its territory The NFL would likely tolerate Orlando as a stop-gap while the Jags get their stadium renovated -- assuming they reach a consensus on that -- which would also allow them to develop a bigger fanbase outside of Jacksonville. Although I've seen the Daytona speedway being floated as a potential temporary venue for the Jags as well, which I think would be insane on a number of levels, both literally and figuratively

@@masashi_tashiro First of all I agree with you there is no chance of the Jags moving to Orlando or London, they are going to stay in Jax. And being close to Tampa is a major factor for them expanding in Jax instead of Orlando, but don't knock on Orlando's market compared to Jax. The Magic played their first season in 1989 when the metro area population was 900,000. The population of Jax in 1989 was 800,000. The population of Orlando metro area is now 2.5 million, in the past decade the Orlando area has been growing at 3x the rate of the Jacksonville area. It seems like the pot calling the kettle black to say Jax is a better market because Orlando has barely only supported one major league franchise. Nobody ever thinks the Magic are going to move, people have been saying the Jags are going to move for over 20 years. The Magic are 24th out of 30 in NBA net worth rankings, Jacksonville has been dead last in the NFL since they were founded. Like I said before the GDP per capita is about the same / actually slightly higher in Orlando so that comment you made about Orlando being poor, well so is Jax. It's also pot calling the kettle black that they don't have an acceptable NFL stadium, neither does Jacksonville thats why they are spending $1.5 bil to re-do the whole thing lol. Orlando would have to do the same thing to the Citrus Bowl. You are also correct Orlando doesn't technically have a lot of companies headquartered here, but Disney and Comcast, two of the most powerful companies in the world, have huge presence and sway and would definitely be corporate sponsors along with Darden and Orlando Health. Have you ever heard any talk of MLS, MLB, or NHL expanding into Jax? There won't be an NHL team because of the Lightning, but Orlando has an MLS team in addition to their NBA team and could easily get an MLB team tomorrow if they made a stadium pitch to the Rays (which Pat Williams is trying to do but the community probably won't support because, just like Tampa, people here don't care about baseball. They would bend over backwards for NFL however).
