Unfortunately today, the old city of Nicosia is divided right down the middle by a UN Buffer Zone between the internationally recognized Republic of Cyprus and de-facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (only recognized by Turkey of course), making it the last divided capital city. The only pedestrian border crossing in the entire city (and only one in the old part of the city) is on Ledra Street, there is another public crossing in the city but it's just for cars (Agios Dometios/Metehan; there's also a third crossing at Ledra Palace but that's just for officials and UN personnel). Nicosia can't even use its international airport anymore because it's in the buffer zone and thus it's sitting abandoned (that's why when you fly to Cyprus, it's either Paphos or Larnaca). This division is a prime example of the rivalry between Turkey and Greece. If you put a Greek nationalist and a Turkish nationalist in the same room...things wouldn't end well.

Band: We're going on a world tour! Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia: That means you'll visit us, right? Band: ... Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia: *That means you'll visit us, right?* 10 percent in Germany for religion makes a lot of sense, even before this, what was once East Germany/DDR was nonreligious since the government enacted state atheism and the former parts have remained that way. Also, Japan was in control of Korea from 1910 to 1945 (the "both Koreas" didn't become a thing until after WWII). They were pretty harsh on us (as they were with everyone else they occupied), and even took Korean comfort women with them for their troops (something they have yet to apologize for). They don't even recognize the DPRK as a legitimate nation, and Japan has Zainichi Koreans who affiliate with the DPRK (because after WWII, we funded the Chongryon organization that helped them). So those who affiliate with the DPRK in Japan are effectively stateless.

People often forget the pacific front of WW2, especially in Europe, so heres a quick rundown: China in civil war (republicans vs communists vs lots of cliques) Japan seizes Manchuria (region in north east of china) Japan already has control of taiwan and korea Japan invades all of china 1937 Japan gets far in but the chinese hold out in the jungles inland Japan attacks Pearl Harbour and the Philippines, and soon British Malaya (malaysia) and the Dutch east indies (indonesia) Japan seizes french indochina (modern day Cambodia Laos and Vietnam), and ally with Siam (Thailand) Small raids upon British Raj and Australia 1943-44 USA completes island hopping campaign, taking small islands in the Pacific but fierce japanese resistance. America nukes Hiroshima Soviet union invades japanese-controlled Manchuria America nukes Nagasaki Peace

At the bit where he does the razor thing, the reason why that area of land is so flat is because there used to be a massive lake there, which was overflowing so much that th government made canals, which drained it over time, with help from mass use of the water from farmers. Eventually, the lake was shrunk down and renamed, and it still exits today im pretty sure. Thought I'd say this as no one else did.
