Fun Fact. They added that line in this game that Elder Kai says, "as far as I know its permanent" there was no hesitation in the original, it was supposed to be a permanent thing, but Toriyama probably knew he'd go back on that. It was retconned that it last an hour for "mortals" and for Kais it is permanent. They explained Vegito splitting in the original as Buu's inside were so vial and gross that it split the fusion, though I have no idea how that works.

Man I loved the original Budokai games that had what-if characters. They made Gokule (Goku and Hercule fused) a playable character, Tiensha (Tien and Yamcha fused) was a playable character, they even had that silly bonus level in Budokai 1 where Cell absorbs Krillin and becomes an orange Cell Jr. with the turtle hermit logo across his wings. I'd love if Xenoverse or Kakarot went as far to do the same thing and have these as easter eggs, would be even cooler if they went as far to make Den-Goku or Gohkan a thing in the games too. Gold moment in the Buu saga though, showed a whole level to Goku's character back then, where even though he had a pair of magical earrings that could amplify his and another persons power by combining, he had to think about whether or not to fuse with Hercule, Dende, Tien, or just fight Buu on his own without fusion.

@@JustinVanTrump there was never a need for anyone to be a kai though, and even if we go by "oh, you need to have 1 kai to stay permanentely fused" then we have: Old Supreme Kai: supreme kai + witch Kibito Kai: Shin (kai) + Kibito Zamasu: Zamasu (kai) + black And well, Goku should be a Kai if the supreme kai gave his life away to him So Goku (kai) + Vegeta Also Kefla its okay since, remember the tournament of power is only 40 minutes long. And Kefla fused way into the fight. And yeah, Kakarot actively tries to add Post-DBZ lore into the story to give cohesion to the entire thing.

If you're confused about the name vegito its because in Japanese vegeta calls goku kakaroto and vegeta is pronounced begita and they changed it in English so it sounds weird in English because the names dont really match up when the fuse

Vegeta and Goku fusing into Vegito is one of the strongest fighters in the series, they are like ying and yang in terms of their personality but they are both incredible fighters in different ways, so to have them fuse creates a kind of perfect fighter, with all the advantages of 2 of the best fighters and few of the disadvantages (goku and vegeta's biggest weaknesses have each been their personality flaws, but combining them means it balances out because of how different they are)

Damn, it just occured to me that there was a bunch more from this part that wasn't taken from the anime. -Firstly, Tien did come into this scene as a minor support, and then went out of comission five minutes in. -Next, when Goku first came back to Earth, he cut Buu in half with a Destrucio Disc. Which brings us to... -The reason Buu decided to absorb Gohan: It wasn't just to prevent him from fusing with Goku, it was that Gotenks' fusion wore off and that ended up cutting Buu's power in half. So he used the part of his tail that got cut off from Goku's disc to pull off the absorption. And on top of that, there was a whole deeper conversation between Goku and Vegeta when Goku tried to convince him to fuse

Events moved pretty fast at this point of the game. Goku and Vegeta actually tried double-teaming Buu before Vegeta became convinced to fuse. That would have been a cool fight to do right before fusing.

FYI in the anime they thought that something inside Buu undid the Fusion when in reality the Potara Fusion has a time limit on mortals, so for gods it is unlimited so Kibito Kai will stay fused forever, except he won't in Super he will wish to Shenron to unfuse

Okay, I've always watched the English dub of this show, but Vegito's line in Japanese is so iconic for whatever reason. It's basically the same meaning but there's something so much cooler about hearing Vegito just yell out, "YOSHAAA!!!" instead of, "Alright!" lol

In the anime tien also comes to save gohan and when Goku is thinking about who to fuse with after gohan got absorbed, he actually thought about fusing with mr.satan instead of tien because tien had low energy. But he ended up fusing with vegeta
