You sound exactly like me when I got my first golden 7 years ago. I thought they were the calmest most behaved dogs, but they are CRAZY as puppies. After two years they slowly calm down and then they’re the best but until then they need a lot of exercise or play. You guys are doing a fabulous job!
@idreamofparis723310 сағат бұрын
Crate training is hard but it is the best thing we did for our pets. Yes you just have to let them cry sometimes. Within 6 months my pups had zero issues with the crates. They learned that was their space and no one bugged them. So some times they would put themselves up for a nap in their crates if they wanted to be alone. They understood it wasn’t a bad place.

We’ve had 4 goldens throughout the years. They are truly the best breed so loyal and affectionate. The puppy phase last about 2 years and then they settle down. Then you start to think about how long you have them.

Hope you will consider rescue one day. There are so many dogs that are in shelters and being put down and you can really find any breed.
@olgasantiago-agirlfriendsguideКүн бұрын
Goldens and labs are very hard to get because the rescue centers always beat us! It’s disheartening because they want to change so much more than the shelters. Sometimes it’s necessary to go to a good breeder, not a backyard run of the mill one. 😊

@@olgasantiago-agirlfriendsguide I've rescued 3 labs in my life (not all puppies though) and bunnies buddies is a great rescue for goldens. Rescues really don't typically charge much and it all goes back to helping more dogs.

What does “puppy breath” mean and what does it smell like?🤔never heard that expression before
@BFlyyyКүн бұрын
@@IntegrityMeansAllPuppies tend to have a particular/certain smell to their breaths. Their breath smell changes as they get older. The actual smell would be very hard to describe, not bad smelling or anything (in my opinion lol) but you just know what it smells like when you do smell it. Haha hope that helps some!
@amandacasey8299Сағат бұрын
This is so odd and may people disagree with me, but to me it smells almost like coffee grounds that have been brewed. Not a fancy Starbucks, just some random coffee you buy at a Walmart. I say that because my parents drank Maxwell house straight black coffee and it reminds me of that so much. Kinda bitter and strong smelling IMO. I personally do not like it at all, which isn’t surprising because I also do not like coffee or the smell of it. BUT so many people love it.
@karikempe49109 сағат бұрын
My biggest piece of advice would be start treating him like a dog and not like a child. Let the dogs/cat figure out the chain of dominance and where they rank in your house. If you’re trying to figure it out for them it’s going to be a constant battle and exhausting for you. Its natural for them. And I promise it’s most likely your little ones and the cat will be dominant over the golden. Don’t worry about his size or theirs. Let nature do its thing!!! And enjoy that puppy, you’ll miss it! 🤍
@nicolemur7297Күн бұрын
That’s cute and all but “we met the family before the mom even got pregnant..” ok so you bought from a breeder? Why? All those animals in shelters that die because people like YOU keep buying from breeders it’s insane eeeeeeeeeee

I’m so curious how much storage space you have for all your seasonal decorations! Oh just home decor in general. Like a storage room tour would be fascinating! See this is why I’m not a dog mom. I think there is just an enourmous amount to learn to be good for them. I LOVE dogs. I want a dog, but I know I’m not the person to be ok with the mess that could come with that and that’s not fair. I grew up on the farm and grew up with dogs, but they were always outside. I played with them every day and miss it, but farm dogs in Saskatchewan do not get Jaclyn level spoiled! We didn’t even buy them. They just showed up, stayed as many years as they felt like and then left.

The puppy phase is very hard! I will say there was a significant change when he turned 14 weeks. Before that, just get through 3 days at a time. Rehoming crossed my mind so many times because it was THAT hard. Just know that it will be hard but they are the best dogs ever. They need to be stimulated mentally and physically. I like to hide his treats and have him find them. Also try to avoid giving human food because he only started begging once he tried it.

I am so mean but I was just cackling when you came back on to talk about how hard having a puppy is. A big dog is a baby that never grows up. Even when you can leave them at home for a few hours, they still need so much mental and physical stimulation every day. Three to six months is a wild suggestion -- my dog was 3 before she chilled out, and she's still a ton of work. She's at daycare right now because I can't work and get her the exercise and socialization she needs every day at the same time. I found having a human baby way easier than a puppy. As far as the hip issues, those are largely genetic. Your breeder should have been careful with that. Dasuquin helps with prevention.
