I so appreciated the comments about pruning programs or procedures out of the church, or habits and favorite sins out of our lives. It's all about what is good, what is better, and what is best and essential. This is something I've needed reminding of lately, and this lesson combined with General Conference has helped me refocus my aim and strivings in my day-to-day life. Thanks, brother. 💛 P.S. Thanks, too, for the thumbnail title. I *had* skipped Jacob 5, as had all of my family except our seminary students!!! 😁

Thank you for one of the most meaningful sessions I have heard. I am working with family members that are not members of the Church but are seeking truth, light and understanding of Christ's message. This session has given me such insight and faith and trust how to pray for as well as approach my loved ones and as you said "work with the Lord & seek His counsel" as I move forward in my conversations WITH them and my prayers FOR them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Christ said that He is the vine and we are the branches. We need to produce good fruit or the branch (which we are) will be cut off and burned. When I joined the church and read Jacob 5, I was impressed by the allegory of Zenos and how it fit with the New Testament words of Christ that meant so much to me. Thank you, Brother Griffin!

Thank you so much Brother! I actually enjoyed learning and hearing about Jacob chapter 5- who h hasn’t always been the case for me. I particularly appreciated the insight that there are or can be numerous meanings to the allegory-that was/is very helpful. I look forward to studying it this morning on my own after all that you have shared and look forward to what the Holy Ghost will bring to my mind and soul❤ Thank you

It was another great presentation as over the years of trying to "get it" I think I have finally "got it." At least a little better so thank you for clarity in your presentations. I do have a question In Jacob 5:49-50. This is one of those times when the Master of the Vineyard says, "Let us go to and hew down the trees of the vineyard and cast them into the fire, that they shall not cumber the ground of my vineyard, for I have done all. What could I have done more for my vineyard?" Now if the Master of the Vineyard is speaking (which is Jesus Christ) to the servant (which is a prophet or missionary, etc), it sounds like Jesus is giving up on all the trees (people-House of Israel), and it is the servant who says, "Spare it a little longer." and the Lord does spare them . But I would have thought it would have been the other way around that maybe the servant would have said to cut all the trees and burn them and the Lord saying "let's spare them a little longer." Any thoughts on that? I would not have thought the Lord would have given up on His people. He said He would never do that. Just curious.

Their is a lot of symbolism and truths in this chapter. In this chapter there is the spot of land that is the most choice above all. Yet despite this the fruit that comes from the tree only half is good and the other half is evil. There is parallel in this fact. Lehi and his family left Jerusalem to come to a land promised to them. A land choice above all others. The Americas. The USA is indeed blessed with abundant minerals and resources. Prior to the revolutionary war Fredrick Bastia, John Lock, Cicero and other inspired thinks influenced the founding fathers with a system of government that would open the way for religious freedom and a means for the restoration of the gospel to come forth. At the restoration you had opposition right away. With Lehi and his family you had an immediate opposition from Laman and Lemuel. This choice spot of land has perfectly prophesied concerning the Americas. Half good half evil, but this is not the end of the parable. Read for yourself and see the parallels to our day.

😅l trying to understand that cutting the tree down part, because I cut my orange tree down to almost root and now it’s an orange bush, but still hasn’t produced any fruit. So when I cut it down it grew a ton more branches but no fruit.

There are problems even contradictions in this chapter. Who can explain them without making some kind of excuse for them? Look at verses 8 and 11. And verses 26 and 44 for a couple of examples.
