I am an American, and that is a very, very specific accent... Louisiana Creole. About 10,000 people still speak French in Louisiana. Jacob is an amazing actor. Interview with a Vampire TV series is an underrated show. Amazing cast and writers!

@@kev7161 Honestly, I think it's because it was completely ignored during awards season which it absolutely shouldn't have been, and it's not a show that's widely talked about. It has a very devoted audience who love it and reviews praise it constantly. Still, it doesn't get the type of coverage of say something like the Walking Dead, Ted Lasso, Stranger Things or the Last of Us, Killing Eve, etc...(I'm naming shows that I haven't seen a single episode of but know a bunch about because they were/are so generally hyped up and talked about) I think people do use underrated a lot when it's not accurate. In this case I think it's correct. The quality of the show is not commiserate with the attention it gets. Renewal doesn't mean all that, trash shows get renewed all the time if they're bringing in ratings.

@@kev7161 Underrated because it's not on a huge network. Less people are aware of this show's existence since it's not on a huge streamer like Netflix. That in turn means less exposure on huge media publications and major awards.

@@kev7161 it objectively is underrated, it wasn't watched by a whole lot of people and it's quite a surprise to many that it got picked up for a second and then third season considering low viewing numbers. plus as the other commenter says, it got ZERO awards buzz for what was definitely award worthy. i agree that sometimes people misuse the term "underrated" and it was definitely reviewed well, don't get me wrong, but i think overall it deserves more hype than it's getting.

I’m from NOLA and I can definitely say that you hear Louis’ accent in New Orleans mostly but if you want that creole French accent, you go further south to Houma and Dulac (Dulac is close to Houma, I used to go to my aunt camp there as a little girl) and that’s where they speak the creole French dialect

In my opinion Louis should've always been a black man. Because to me, that just fits that time frame on the show better. Jmo. I know Anne Rice's work & its her vision, no problem at all. But I've always felt Brad's Louis should've been black, because you could under why he wouldnt want to live anymore, being a slave. Instesd of a Slave owner on a plantation wanting to die, Jmo. Jacob does an awesome job, very talented artist.

But Louis in the show isn't an enslaved person. His grandfather, and then his father, ran a plantation and had slaves that worked their land. The writing team did so much research into life during that time and it really enriches the story to bring things forward in time a bit. Love this show.

I agree! But instead of being a slave he could've been what his G-Grandfather was, which was a free man of colour who had slaves. Then they could've even kept it in the same time frame as the book. But I still adore what they did with the show. I love it so much!

Okay, maybe I'm crazy but it seems like in a lot of movies and TV shows whenever a vampire flashed their fangs, especially when someone held a cross up to them or whatever, they made a hissing sound like a cat while showing their fangs tho. It seems pretty commonplace. Funny that they didn't think of doing that from the beginning, as that would have been my first instinct. But then that's me. Lol
