Has warrant for sexual assault. Resists arrest. Fights a cop. Wields a knife. Tries to get into a vehicle to escape. And people are mad about this? I'm genuinely confused.

I can't believe we have come to the point as a country where a loving father with an outstanding arrest warrant for aggravated sexual assault can't violate the restraining order against him armed with a knife, ignore police orders, resist arrest and shake off the effects of two tazers and attempt to get in a van with 3 children that he has no custody agreement for, has to live in fear of being shot by law enforcement officers.

i remember after this happened sports teams refused to play games the next few days. My hometown Philadelphia Flyers were in the bubble playoffs i think, and they said they weren't playing out of protest for Jacob Blake. Like WTF???
@amanwithadream6894
@amanwithadream6894 2 жыл бұрын
It's this mindset that has the world so divided. The protests are the culmination of too many people dying at the hands of public civil servants across America. At the hands of the very people that have taken an oath to protect and serve them. The playoffs aren't more important than human lives and they will continue. Would it be okay if your child while at school starts to act out for whatever reason and after the teacher tells them repeatedly to comply, the teacher starts beating your child leaving them in a wheelchair because they didn't comply ? Let's see how indifferent your heart truly is ?

She’s the true victim and it’s mind-boggling that not one word was said about her. Blake put himself in this position. He knew he had a restraining order filed against him by her yet he showed up to her house uninvited anyway. He could have left before she called the police on him yet he stayed and terrorized her by digitally raping her anyway. He was ordered not to reach for anything that could be used as a weapon when he went to his car yet he reached for a knife anyway. He could have complied when the police showed up to arrest him yet he chose to fight back and resist arrest anyway. He was given every opportunity not to escalate the situation and make it worse yet that’s exactly what he did. Blake getting shot and paralyzed was the result of his choices, not the color of his skin.

I don't think it's about them being painted as ''innocent'', but rather the police are not held accountable when they misuse their power. I find it scary that someone can call the cops on another human being and if the person argues with the police officer or walks away from them than they cop can shot dead the person because they were ''resisting arrest'' or being difficult. It's about a lack of respect for human lives. They might as well be murders if it's so easy for them to shot somebody without question.

He explains exactly why he was shot and it’s not even close to painting a picture of innocence. On the contrary, the video and his “testimony” explain to us exactly why he was shot and that he provoked the officers. He attacked them and put the life of his children in danger. If I was you Michael, I’d be embarrassed by this interview. If I were those kids mothers, Blake wouldn’t ever see them again. He endangered their lives and behaved just like a criminal in front of them. Way to set an example. Not making excuses for the guy at all, but if what he said in tge interview is true, that he didn't hear much of what was going on in detail, only that people were screaming, it's possible that he entered into a state of mind where he wasn't even thinking, just acting/reacting to what was going on. Like he just blanked out or something. That being said, it would have been a response based on emotions. My brother, in our younger years used to hate if anyone touched his glasses or his face. It was a thing of respect, and he would literally black out if someone did so. This kid was bullying him, and sure enough, he touched his face and ended up knocking his glasses off his face. He instantly blacked out and immediately started punching the kid. The kid backed off. They later became friends. In the case of Jacob blake, the outcome was much more serious. There is one thing I can say to his favor, though. He seems real calm, mellowed out in the interview, and the way he's mentioning God as he's talking, could mean he realized how serious what took place really was. At least I sure hope he has realized it and that this experience changes him for the better.

However, you will never be able to tell these "anything goes" people a damn thing. When the police tell you to stop, you stop and show them your hands. If you don't stop, they will think you are going after a weapon (or you're going to make a run for it) which leads them to believe that you are guilty of the crime. You only have yourself to blame when the police open fire on you. Even with me explaining this there will be someone who will tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. @@mrmarwingee1 Marwin, young sir, to begin with I do not think I know it all and that I'm better than you. I had to get some information from the NY Post. In any situation in which the police show up, a person should do what they say, IMMEDIATELY! The cops don't know if that person is armed or not. Not obeying their orders makes them think that person is armed. Since the police value their lives also, this becomes an "us versus them" situation. So, the police open fire to keep that person from harming them or someone else. The NY Post article says he has sexually assaulted the woman who called the police. She had been granted a restraining order against him. He was NOT supposed to have been around her or her home. He created the mess, and then put himself in harm's way. What would you think about him if he had sexually assaulted your mom, or sister, and she got the restraining order, and he shows back up at her home? He's a threat. By being so self-entitled, He has brought this upon himself. nypost.com/2020/08/28/this-is-why-jacob-blake-had-a-warrant-out-for-his-arrest/

They could have just used a taser on the guy, didn’t have to endanger his/his children’s lives. Police officers are supposed to be the “professionals” in the situation, so should be able to de-escalate. They seem to be able to do it better when the suspect is white and wielding knives/guns at them.

@mrnameless7637
@mrnameless7637 3 жыл бұрын
@@notabadword4026 They did use a taser, but in the video they call it a stun gun. They mentioned him "pulling out the prongs," stun guns don't have prongs that stick into flesh, only tasers do. Also, they show a picture of the spent battery cartage and wiring, only tasers use those. As far as de-escalation, I get what you mean, and that would be good, but I can't image how it's really possible to do that. You could plead, and try to convince them not to steal the car, but in the end, they have full power to just ignore what you say, what then? Can I truly judge the police if I've never had to arrest someone, or instruct someone to stop before they commit a crime or leave the scene of a crime. Being successful in de-escalating a intense emotional situation like what the police commonly have to deal with is to me is incredibly hard, if not sometimes completely impossible. If I meet a crazy person, I can just let them have what they want, and walk away. The police have to solve the situation according to the law, when doing that there is so much that can go wrong, even things no one would think of could go wrong. It's good to want less violence in any way possible, but in the end, all law has to be enforced eventually by violence if compliance is refused. If we make laws, we have to accept that violence may eventually happen because of enforcing that law. I feel like you have an important point, but the reality is that theory and practice are different, and dealing with people like in this situation, there really isn't a de-escalation method that would be better then what they have. Ask yourself this question, what de-escalation method would you use, and would you be willing to meet a hostel person with a knife and use that method? Should they let him take the car, or should they stop him? If they let him take the car, and not attempt to stop him? Are the police preventing crime? If the police let people do crimes in front of them, what would happen as a result to society? Would people then become good, because it's only in stopping their crime that they become bad? Is human nature like that? Are people going to be good, when they have full opportunities to be bad, and will not be stopped by an officer of the law? By the time someone like Jacob Blake, thinks that stealing a car from the mother of his child in front of the police is okay, and fighting the police with a knife in his hand is okay. All because he feels justified to take the car because he doesn't have his truck. A thousand bad choices in his life have already happened, and a thousand bad influences in his life have all but sealed his fate. At that point, Jacob Blake has a criminal mind, he can't understand why his actions are wrong, his mind is lost in a sea of irrational thought. Making him into a martyr, will add to his delusion, not help him out of it, if he can get out of it at this point. In his mind, He can take from people, and hurt people, even sexually assault people, and think it's right. We have to make sure, we don't fall under the same spell he has fallen under. Even a little bit. You have a good sense of mercy, based on what you wrote, and you are a good person for feeling that way. But love must also be balanced with justice. Mercy and justice have to be used together, not just one or the other. Our only hope of making good decisions rests on our ability to combine these two concepts of mercy and justice. Yes, he is a human being, but so is the renter of the car that called the police, the police that he fought against with a knife are also human beings. The community that had to live with a rapist, are also human beings. All human beings need mercy. What do you do when one persons mercy, cancels out the mercy of another. You need to then think with justice. Would Jacob Blake be treated differently if he was white? The problem with that question is that it can only be answered by an option. We can't make him white, then re-run the situation to prove the outcome was different. Racism does exist in our culture, but bias against the police also exists. The moment the police stop you, your freedom ends, you can't run, you can't go on with your plans. You have to stay until they excuse you to leave. That's how policing works, and it works that way in every government around the world. To the human mind, being stopped like this feels like an insult and an attack. That's human nature, and it's human nature to create bias towards those that enforce punishments on you, even if that punishment was just pulling you over in traffic, or stopping you in the streets. Racism does exist, but how much and when? If we can't measure it, or identify it, we can only guess at it, and that opens up opportunity for our imaginations run wild and conspiracy theories to grow.

He pulled the trifecta of how to get shot by the cops, resisting/fighting running and going for a weapon. He was begging to get shot this was all on him, to suggest otherwise is to just have your blinders on.

You are not a victim. You brought this on yourself. You have only yourself to blame for being paralyzed and yet you are still trying to play the victim. You now have plenty of time to regret your actions while you sit in your wheelchair for the rest of your life. You can never beat another women or run from the cops ever again. Justice served. Enjoy your new life !
