yeah, unfortunately the side I'm typically on (demo/liberal) tends to have some people that already don't care about voting cuz the world is F'd up as it is. Like my roommates boyfriend (I guess I can call my roommate too) just didn't want to vote because he saw no point in it and (pardon me for a moment) his reasoning being "As a black man I can't trust the government." -he legit won't let yard waste pick up have his leaves because he doesn't want the "Government" to have his leaves. He's THAT skeptical about everything. Deep freaking sigh LMAO Like yes, understandable....but its a thing that people don't realize that you cant just change a nation at the snap of a finger, sometimes change is just putting a party in power that won't further take away your rights. They may F everything else up (a certain Biden) but at least they're not trying to actively screw with your civil rights (for the most part). Trump winning is just.....*sigh* Like honestly her boyfriend has no right to complain about anything lol. I've had some people I worked with before that say the same thing, they refuse to vote because they see there's no point, the world is fucked as it is. i've been working the polls for almost 10 years now (I started when i was in high school and now im the minority inspector for my precinct) and unfortunately i happen to live in Cambria County, PA, (it's never fun to make national news because your ballots wouldn't scan county-wide 😵‍💫) meaning on election day, we had extended hours until 10pm. so my day was from 5am to 2am. thank you everyone who came out and voted. i know this wasn't the results we were hoping for, but we'll get through this together ❤️

While everything sucks with the main elecfion, I wanted to remind people how voting can matter. Here where i vote, in Missouri(which I'm praying will not be my home soon), amended its abortion laws to remove the complete ban, the minimum wage will raise from 13 to 15 per hour, and police wages wont be rising. Things like these are important and we need to remember how even if you only win little things, you still won them. I said this in a reply but if they completely crush our spirits they win so take the breaks you need but dont give up and stand when you can

Small victories in Nevada too. We codified abortion rights, finally made slavery illegal constitutionally (yea…) and expanded state resources for people with disabilities. Also, we kept the state government out of university curriculum and policy, because that’s a job for educators, not politicians. We didn’t get ranked choice voting but it got 46% so we only need to convince 5% more people for next time! Small victories.

I too have anxiety so I voted with my mail in ballot and dropped it into a ballot box. But the day after the election I got a message from ballot tracker that there was something wrong with my ballot and it wasn’t counted 😭 I’m supposed to get something in the mail to fill out to fix it, but it seems like everything is already decided. Devastated that the small amount of power I had in my vote didn’t even matter 😭 still gonna try and get it fixed!! But damn…. we will persist though. We will have each others backs and support

I don’t know if this will help you or not, but here’s what keeps me grounded through the election news: Things are bad and scary now. We are going to have to do a lot of painful fighting, a lot of work to help those who the winners want to hurt. But we were always going to have to do that work ourselves. No matter who had won, none of the options were EVER going to actually, meaningfully help ALL of the people who need help right now. They said as much in their campaigns. We - actual people, not political parties - were ALWAYS going to have to pick up the slack and help each other ourselves. The work that needs to be done is fundamentally the same no matter who won. Yes, this particular outcome means that work will be a bit harder and scarier. But alongside those threats also comes a groundswell of support. More people will be aware and willing to help, now that they don’t have “team blue won so I don’t have to do anything else since they’ll just take care of it” as an excuse to not pay attention anymore. I can guarantee you that, based on that exact thing happening in previous elections for my whole life. I want everyone here - especially the younger people - to know that PEOPLE DO AND WILL HELP EACH OTHER. This may seem like a disaster, but disaster always brings with it *disaster compassion* - the phenomenon where people in a disaster will go out of their way to help each other through the disaster. There always have been, and always will be, people who are working to help and support each other through the horrors of this world, regardless of the circumstances. You can join in too. If you don’t know how, there are so many people who would be happy to teach you. If you think you have nothing you can offer, I can promise you that even the tiniest, most mundane and silly contribution is enough and happily welcome. Team Helping Others is always happy to welcome someone new to the party. 💜 The people who won this election want nothing more than for you to fall silent and compliant due to fear. Fight that. Do the thing they fear the most: rather than surrendering your personal agency to them, *use it* and *do something.* Help those around you. You are enough, and whatever you can do is enough.
