I just came here to come closer to my religion (I'm a Roman Catholic). Just like the lost son, I realised what a man is without his religion: nothing. When I was younger, I used to go to our local church quite often: sometimes even three times per week. Religion was at the centre of my life. But since I emigrated to UK 16 years ago, I grew apart from my religion. Only recently I discovered that I've been quite unhappy, unsettled and lost. I'm slowly finding my way back and I therefore would like to thank you, guys for enlightening my knowledge about Jacob. Cheers, guys. 🤜

We need religion. Psychologically, it has been proven that those who claim to be spiritual but not religious are less happy and experience depression more than those who are spiritual and religious. Religion is not a bad thing, although modern man has vilified religion and being religious. True religion is spoken of in the bible. True religion is believing in, reverencing, and living for the Most High God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

That is a very accurate reading of the bible passage, except, that different than muslins, Christians don't see the prophets as a role model, that is exactly the reason why they show how weak and wrong they could be. There is a difference between BEING USED by God and being APPROVED by God. In the bible, there are several people that were used by God (even pagan kings) but they probably will not go to paradise. The prophets for Christians can be a reference - but not a model. That is the only misconception there. It even brings more accuracy as avoids the"myth". Man can be good and bad, but God is perfect, and we should look for His example, and His mercy - which is endless.

Evelyn, I find it fascinating that God would chose certain individuals out of billions of humans to be His prophets and messengers. Yet these selected individuals, many times, come across as just nasty and cunning individuals in the bible. Individuals who are morally and ethically difficient at all times and places. They're definitely not role models to follow. Chances are that a random person you walk into would possess higher moral and ethical standards. And this is a problem. The Quranic view, where the ones selected by him are the best people of their times, who represent good role models for us to follow, that surely makes more sense. These individuals aren't perfect; they can make inadvertent errors and mistakes. But surely they're not cunning tricksters who commit acts which would give you and I a major pause. I find the Quranic take and presentation to be far superior and it's presentation of God a vast improvement over his presentation in parallel biblical stories.
@EvelynKoch
@EvelynKoch 3 жыл бұрын
@@Yoda.. I agree with you. God indeed chose suitable people so the message could be sent. But Adam, Jonah, and so on are not models to follow. They clearly accomplished their mission, but didn't follow God. We can learn from them, and that is sometimes how not do do.

@@EvelynKoch thanks Evelyn. I believe in the Qur'an, Adam, Jonah, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, to name a few, are all role models in the Qur'an. This includes Jesus also. I think the Qur'an, from its perspective, is offering a corrective of biblical accounts in vogue at the time of its revelation.

Why would you trust a book "revealed" to 1 man ( who can make up whatever he wants because no one would know) to tell you about Jacob 2,500 yrs after it happened ? When you have the Old Testament which comes wayy before. Also written by multiple people over hundreds of years so it would be harder for them to conspire & lie and to keep the same story all along. Plus which one sounds more like what actually happened ? The book that says he was a bit deceptive early on in life or the book that says he was never a trickster and a righteous man ?

Following on previous videos…I think absolving the Prophets from all human error and present them as perfect does more harm than good, in my opinion. Moses did kill an Egyptian out of anger, Jacob tricked his brother, Noah did get drunk…all these are things humans do; however, regardless of all these God had mercy upon them..and still chose them to lead his people Having this realisation makes them more relatable and easier to follow in their steps

He is depicted just right in the bible. It is the men/pastors/parishioners who misunderstand the character and ways of Jacob that gets others to defame Jacob's name. Jacob wanted the things of the spirit, which include the birthright. Esau was carnal and cared not for spiritual or godly things. That is why in the womb, they fought and Jacob was reaching out. He wanted to grab hold of those things that pertained to the promise of God. God knew that and so God prophecies that Jacob would be the one who received the blessing/birthright. God wanted Jacob to have the birthright and not Esau. God knew Esau was base and non spiritual, reckless to the things of God. That is why the Bible says that God loved Jacob but HATED Esau. Another thing is Rebekah had Jacob go in Esau's place for the blessings of the birthright because she remembered what God promised and prophesied to her. Esau would have been terrible to be the proginator of the 12 tribes of Israel.

With all do respect you couldn’t be more off. The Most High said the blessing goes to Jacob, “the older will serve the younger” when they were in the womb. Rebekah only did what she was told by Elohim. YaHUaH did not accept Esaus offerings. Esau the true deceiver at that time. He did not care about his birthright. Jacob was zealous for Him. As Israel, I love you so much Esau! Yahusha died and was resurrected for ALL OF US. We don’t care about birthrights, we are all equal. We will all cast our crowns before Him one day anyway. “Let Yahs word be true and every man a liar” Shalom

The Holy Bible tells us that the prophets were men of like passions-- similar to us. They shared our emotions, passions, felt hunger, thirst, joy, sadness, envy, jealousy, pain, etc. Why? They were, like us, sinful humans suffering the consequences of sin. They too, made sinful choices. The Bible included their stories as part of the struggle between good and evil, truth and error, right and wrong, light and darkness and ultimately the great conflict between God and Satan. These character stories are written to illustrate how these individuals lived out that conflict between good and evil, light and darkness, God and Satan and how ultimately God wins! Truth triumphs through their lives ultimately. Jacob, whose name means supplanter or cheat, deceiver, had a name change. God changed his name to Israel after that night of wrestling with God for victory in his messed up life. God assured him that He would extricate him from the tangle which was his life that he put himself into because he was doing life his way. After that Jacob tried to do life God's way. And ultimately succeeded. His new name Israel which God give Him names Prince and overcomer because He wrestled with God and prevailed. (won, overcame, was victorious) Jesus Christ once told the Jewish leaders: You do err not knowing (understanding) the Scriptures and the power of God. Until we really understand the Scriptures, we will err, that is, we will have false views of truth and righteousness, right and wrong, good and evil, etc. A really good book that treats this subject is E.G.White's Patriarchs and Prophets that comments on the Bible from Creation to the death of King David. This book is widely available by search for reading, listening to, for purchase and often for free on various platforms. It was an eye opener for me. I praise God for it. I believe many of you will also. All seekers for truth, Be blessed as you read.

Why do you say follow the sahaba, follow the scholars, follow Prophet Mohammed !! Follow the sunna, but you don't say follow the Quran ?? Why did idolaters like Amir arabpour and Christian Prince use the sunna to criticize Prophet Mohammed and not the holy Quran? I'm a Muslim thank god. And I have only one book, the Holy Quran. Your questions are strange. "Why do you provide Sunnis and Shiites, companions to God?" What do you mean? "Why do you say indirectly that Prophet Mohammed is God?" No one said or implied that. "Why do you say Prophet Mohammed was the best prophet, weren't the other prophets good?" Nothing is wrong with saying that someone is the best while others are still good. "Why do you hate the holy Quran?" Are you directing this to people who use Hadith and ignore the Quran? "Why do you say the Quran does not say how to pray?" It doesn't tell us the exact method of the 5 daily prayers. We pray like how the prophet prayed. Christian Prince and these guys have weak arguments. They focus on weak hadith pretending that it's authentic and interpret stuff completely out of context. I agree with you they should focus on the Quran. "Why do you have Sunnis and Shiites over 100 Korans? " That's wrong there is only one Quran.

It also says in the bible, that islam doesnt mention here, that a mans plans are in his heart but the Lord directs his steps. If Islam is depicted by Esau the it was Esau who had no regard for his birth right for something as carnal and simple as a bowl of soup. To this day Islam has carried that attitude and has developed every kind of psychological reason why they are the true people of God. All the while denying Christ Jesus is the son of God. When you mention the son of God they scream about it because they even think that comment is a worldly understanding of what the son of God is just like they thought a bowl of soup was worth more than a birth right. Hell is a real place. You need to know that. If you believe Jesus was a mere prophet then hear what the prophet says. No one comes to God except through him.
