Your animation speaks to me. It reveals a world where music is told like a sermon and reciprocated by the simple action of raising one's arms (or dabbing if you're really feeling it). One frightening woman stumbles upon this collection of the enlightened and begins to question, nay retort their actions. She cannot comprehend what she is seeing until she gives into the music. After her transformation she understands and embraces the music.

As someone who played in big bands once, and avidly follows (r)evolutionary composers like Maria Schneider, I think Jacob is on to something! Bridging the worlds of contemporary dance/house/I-don't-even-know, and modern jazz big band, is striking. There's enough harmonic "meat" to keep it interesting, and space for solos, on top of the high-energy feel, without losing sight of what you can do in this band format. Plus these are clearly great, young players who understand the music and want to keep it alive. Great work! The animation was something more than I expected, both surreal and evocative. Like the sculptures of Alberto Giacometti. Was it a dance video, or was it about life and the transcendent power of music?

Also hey Jacob, if you ever have the chance in the future, I think you and Jules Buckley of the Metropole Orkest would make a killer collaboration for some new music, I’d love to hear what you think if you ever come across this comment :) In the meantime, keep up the amazing work!😄🖐
