As NOT a Rangers or Leafs fan I think the management of the teams should be the focus of the fans ire not the players. I think a good GM can work it out and get players moved. Those clauses can be waived. But the relationship with players and GM has to be good and they have to be willing to lose a trade sometimes to get it done. I also don't think Trouba's wife should not have been brought into the conversation, at the end of the day it doesn't matter why he says no and the writer who wrote that story shouldn't have done it. It's nobody's business. I think Leafs fans are over estimating Marner's worth because if I'm a GM I'm not giving up anything in a trade, I know you want to move him I'm not helping you out. It's like Karlsson last year. And if you really don't want him I can wait until he's UFA if he goes to market. And from Mitch's side a lot of the teams with the cap space aren't competitive so I don't blame him for not wanting to go there. But I think the management in Toronto is so afraid of how it would look if the "lost" a trade they haven't tried that hard to move him. But I don't know that's just what it seems like listening to the talk about it.

I feel like ya’ll missed the most important part of the NMC argument. It screws over teams in undisersble places. The Winnipeg’s and Buffalo’s of the league are already at a disadvantage because they have a hard time attracting UFAs. Once you add on that half the league’s best talent can can never be traded there, that team is doomed.

Hey guys Buffalo sports fan here🤦🏽♀️ I assume many players have Buffalo on the no move list, how do we trade for a top 6 player if they all have Buffalo on their list . Obviously fans yelling at players spouses is terrible, but the no trade clauses are a little out of control on the NHL. The other major leagues do not really have this issue, as no trade clauses are pretty rare. I don't blame the players for this but it's incredibly frustrating as a fan of a cursed franchise, to not be able to realistically acquire win now players. Just a perspective I thought I should share 😊

I think Laine is going to get a better return than many people think.

Trouba isn’t living up to the contract but he has a NMC in his contract so he can stay if he wants to. He has a family to think about.
