To weigh in on whole TypeScript vs JavaScript thing: I'm a 33 year old who started learning web dev about 3 months ago and I was always under impression that "you need to know JS before TypeScript" so my plan is just that. Once I get good grip of JS I'd want to "upgrade" to TypeScript but I didn't really look into it (TypeScript) so maybe I'm wrong.

Typescript is javascript with more features so you should learn javascript first and you are getting into web dev so you definitely want to learn js Also the more language you know the better. You are new so just stick to one language for now

JavaScript is at the least nicer than Python. But none of their will be in my top 5. #1 C++ #2 Rust #3 C #4 Java (spring boot) #5 Perl or C#

I think it would be good learning the theory first on something like CS50 and then go to use Brilliant but a mix of both also works.
