@@DerSpalter To every soul OUT THERE: All prayers from Righteous SOULS aka Born again Christians, have power. Sinners prayers GOD hears not. Unless we REPENT and born again and LIVE HOLY, GOD hears none of our prayers. Prayers have power, but these must come from Changed hearts. Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. Psalms 119:155 “Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.” (Many souls(unsaved souls), believe falsely and pray in vain). Mankind is filled with UNSAVED SOULS (WICKED SINNERS). That`s why there`s a calling to REPENTANCE and to BORN AGAIN: Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

I truly feel the same way you described, he is a gift from above to all of us it is truly remarkable the way his music blends with his personality and messages he passes on, into one.

JC is the only musician I've ever seen who seems to be in a flow state every time he picks up an instrument. Watching this video, just like on Little Blue Mahogany Session, it's like he's deciding on what chords might compliment things well *as he's in the middle of playing* and just produces them in the moment, and yes, they compliment it all perfectly. His voice or the guitar or whatever, seem to be mere extensions of his mind, let alone his body. He thinks it, and it just happens. Mesmerising.

I lost my father 6 months ago. He was a remarkable guitar player and song writer. Last week my oldest child suggested we go see Jacob Collier live in Atlanta in a few weeks. I had never heard his music. We got the tickets. Now I’m listening, crying and thinking of how much my father would love this song in particular.

After recording guitar for my upcoming album all day long, it's a blessing to hear that song. It's sometimes frustrating to practice, record, fail, and start all over again. I'm on my 4th attempt with this album, just saying. So here I am, chasing some abstract ideas of perfection while it feels so natural for you, Jacob. Some might feel like giving up when they see you play. But for me, listening to you, watching you, helps me remember why I'm doing this. It reminds me of the right direction, which is to never lose sight of the pure pleasure of discovering myself through creativity and the profound joy of sharing those magnificent discoveries with my loved ones. Those are truly the only reasons to do it. Okay, enough introspection, it's time to get some sun into my eyes ;)

an amateur musician here, I do music weekly at church. obviously what I do at church doesn’t need a standard as high and professional as you, but the frustration over music arrangements is there and it’s just sucks when I don’t know what to do with a song. when that happens, I also come to Jacob to find peace because, after all, what draws me to Jacob is his sincerity. thank you for sharing your pov, may all of us be as passionate as Jacob in our own musical journey. time for me get some sun too! :)

I'll never forget the fist time I heard this song. I enjoy trying to predict Jacobs songs and arrangement a couple of bars before they play out. Sometimes I'll pause and sing what I think comes next and for this song I paused right before the first sentence and somehow guessed both melody, timing, the guitar part and words correctly for the first two sentences. I definitely had a moment just like the sax and guitar player that unknowingly decided to play the same improvised lick at the same time (If you don't know, go watch the vid!!). I was literally laughing out loud in my car. 😅

@TerryTags

Fun? This isn't a fun song, it's not even pop or jazz or swing or hip ... it's just beautiful. This one's not supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be art, and not all art is for everyone. Your opinion is valid for you because this song doesn't speak to your musical taste. I'm not gonna un-hot your dog or un-tater your tot because you think it's boring. Maybe someday you'll be in a different place and you'll find new meaning in this. Maybe not. And that's fine. My favorite part of the song is around measure 35 (at around the 2:00 mark) when he goes from the major IV chord (Bb add2) to a 1st inversion minor iv (Bb minor add6) because that's what he calls the Negative Harmony of F major. Look up Negative Harmony Jacob Collier for more on that subject :) Thanks for your serious inquiry.

[English] I suddenly lost my father last year in 2022 due to a heart condition. My father used to sing Ponta de Areia since when I was in my mom's belly and it has been my lullaby song between my dad and I. One way we would connect was through musicking since my dad was so passionate about music and we would listen to Jacob's art on the car driving to work together. Now even if my dad is not physically with me anymore, I play this song on my ukulele when I miss him the most. Seeing Jacob reference Milton Nascimento's song to announce his concert here in LA feels like a calling from the universe. I am so excited to see Jacob and to feel the power of music to connect bridges between past, present and future and most importantly, to feel connected with one another no matter how far apart we are. Can't wait for this concert!
