As someone who has had to eat plenty of MRE’s, they taste fine. The only thing is they either make you constipated or give you diarrhea. I unfortunately would get diarrhea so I stopped eating the main part because wtf was the point lol. An MRE is supposed to feed you for a day or two so if you’re shitting it all out, might as well starve lol. But they taste fine.

The "Do not eat" packets that are in some food packages are to absorb moisture or oxygen, which will keep the food longer. If it's to keep it dry, like in the lasagna bag, it's silica gel which is harmless and edible, but they say don't eat it because as it absorbs water, it gets a lot bigger, and if you were to eat it, it would expand in your stomach and possibly rupture it.
