The 322 is rare because of its engine. The engine is a Yanmar diesel factory converted to a gas engine. All the diesel parts are still on the tractor, but it runs on gasoline instead of diesel. He used to have a 2001 John Deere 455, but he sold it to replace it with a second John Deere X758 Signature.

I've got an old Craftsman with a 20 horse opposed Vanguard that is a sweetie but I'm having to downsize because I'm too geezerish to take care of everything (8 mowers) and need the room. I have a 28 inch Roof with an 8 horse I/C Briggs used in tree farms and regular suff. Also a Gravely with a 40 inch Kidney mower that may stay. It has steering brakes and that's rare for a walk behind, 301 cast iron 12 horse Kohler with sulky. Getting my Sweetie an old Craftsman with a 16 horse single Briggs for a spare and a Stihl battery hand mower and keeping a Snapper 21 for a spare. Always something and you did REALLY good! Just shows how tough the old stuff was and still is. Blessings

how does one fix that before it gets to be a problem or does briggs & Stratton not have that issue?
@famousamoso7 Жыл бұрын
with all the mowers was there any common theme to get them running? Or just adding battery and cleaning carb for most.
@AlwaysBored123 Жыл бұрын
For virtually all of them it was just a matter of getting the carburetor to supply gas and getting the starter to spin the engine over. I think that Briggs with the missing pushrods and that Kohler with the cracked block were the only exceptions.

At 16:45 when the engine won’t turn over is this from bad starter, weak battery, or engine is in the compression stroke and the starter has trouble overcoming it?
@AlwaysBored123 Жыл бұрын
I'm 99% sure it was caused by excessive valve lash from my poor valve adjustment. Those engines have a compression release mechanism built into the camshaft that holds the intake valve open on the compression stroke just slightly until the engine gets up to speed. If the valve lash is too much the release won't do anything and the compression will be too great for the starter to overcome. After running that engine for a while it actually got bad enough to where the starter couldn't turn it through a complete cycle.
