I am very much considering the JBL 500 I have the old JBL 5.1 and the brand new LG S80QY which is fantastic but the rear speakers are too much of a bother in my limited space condo am very much considering JBL 500 would be just perfect. Hello JacobDark, I've just found Ur site & will subscribe for sure, I'm really sorry to hear about Ur illness but I hope U won't take this comment offensive but besides Useing this for income, I'm positive that U can apply for Disability & get accepted, as U are entitled, our government is giving money, free housing & now $1000.00 monthly food card to the Illegal's, So apply for something that U need for Urself & if U have a family, what U need to take care of U & Ur's....good luck & be well 🙏🙏

Not offensive at all, when I first got sick I applied for disability many times but was denied over and over. That was actually a blessing in disguise because I now make more from KZbin with the help of my viewers than I ever would on disability.

I have a full 5.2.4 hometheater set up in my basement which i love and sounds awesome,,but i do own the jbl 500 ,connected, with nvidia shield and 86" tv in my livingroom and I'm really impressed on how you can hear and feel,all the bells and whistles all around you when playing Dolby Atmos content from one single speaker and sub.

there are soooo many good set ups out there its very tough to choose which brand and type to get...i have tried Samsung and Sonos and ended up selling them....now am about to try the Bose 900 with two 700 Bass Modules....if i am not happy with that i will try the JBL 1300 I think....thx for your review....MERRY CHRISTMAS ...cheers from Vulcan Canada

Eh, I just got this. As an audio-lover, this thing is uncontrollable. The equalizer doesn't do any justice too. The subwoofer is either WAY too quiet on level 2, or already way too loud on level 3. The crossover is horribly bad, voices go too heavily into the deep frequencies. The mids are muddy, and too quiet, they get eaten up by 80% lows and 20% highs. The highs are clear and wonderful though. The bass quality is really good, as always with JBL, but the balance is just HORRIBLE, seriously horrible. Either the soundbar is too quiet, or the subwoofer is too loud, there is NO middle ground with this. Set the sub to level 1, bass is gone. Set it to level 2, bass is almost non-existent. Set it to level 3, bass is already overpowering. And even funnier - It's not a real setting. It just changes the equalizer automatically, which in return destroys your pre-made settings. The levels mean literally nothing, JBL just changes your set equalizer. The dolby atmos is actually rather good, and nicely simulates a real hardware scenario. Not perfect, not the real deal, but I'm impressed nonetheless by what software can do with a few speakers. in a nutshell: This thing is a dubstep kids wet dream come true, because it's 80% bass, 20% highs, no mids. The subwoofer sounds nice, but the subwoofer is all you're going to hear, or you won't hear it at all.

The lowest freq of the sub is 35 Hz, whereas the lowest note on a piano is 27.5 Hz. Is this a noticable deficit for music play ?

Great Video...❤ Just ordered this..i just got the Denon S517 Yesterday and its not bad....but the sub isnt to good..lucky i didnt pay retail..at retail it should atleast come with a 8inch sub..also ive had a couple soundbars..and ones with a wireless sub even the lowest bass level is usually a bit to high.. I hope the BAR500 is a bit better.

My local dealer told me it’s too much power for regular room. Do you think so? I was looking Also at Jbl 2.1 deep bass. My priority is music, then TV/movies. I would like to make one purchase for longer period Of time.

Nonsense, I've run way more powerful setups in my room, this will be just fine. It would be hard to recommend which is best for music since most of my reviews are based on movie watching. Should you buy I'd super appreciate you using my link, I'm positive you'll be happy with this unit.

Geez.....you folks in the US have good pricing. I picked up the JBL in Canada on a Black Friday sale at Best Buy for $549. It was regularly priced at $849.00! Happy I did. Interestingly enough I was pulled between the Bose 600 and this JBL. I just have to figure out how to use Alexa with it. She is just not listening to me!!!!!

Is it worth of spending $1000 for BOSE 900 plus another $900 for Bose 700 base module or $600 for JBL 500 for watching( Indian ) new movies and English and Indian music videos to enjoy the great sound like cristal deep music quality 🤔 if you can I am Dolby surround with great base music lover

I had a lot of problems with the Bose 600 after about 6 months with their software and app. I'm now staying away from Bose because of that; that's just my personal experience, yours may differ.

If you're using it for a gaming setup I could see the need, I think most who use it for TV purposes should be fine with the eARC HDMI port unless you have an older TV.

JBL simply because the Bose I had (you'll find others if you look) eventually had too many problems and became a headache.
