Going from any soundbar to larger, separate speakers with a sub is going to sound much better. Has nothing to do with the soundbar you had or the brand of speakers you went to. I know it has its fans, but the Dragon just doesn't make a lot of sense to me - it's as expensive, or more so depending on how you configure it, as a really decent AV receiver setup that will out-perform any sound bar setup, but is still as bulky and intrusive as the AVR option. I think compared to any of the "high end" sound bar options on this list, it's just got much more limited market appeal - and probably for the level of ugly it introduces to your living space, it's just not got the performance to forgive it.

There are some great options here! I always wonder if it is better to stick with my pretty good AVR that doesn’t have Atmos or to move to a soundbar-like solution that has Atmos? I hesitate to replace with a new AVR because I don’t want wires going to my rear or side surrounds.
@Beer_Dad19754 күн бұрын
Atmos sounds significantly different on a good setup (IMO better, but some people don't like it) than Dolby 5.1 - and the difference between Atmos and 2.0 stereo is night and day. I'd say see if you can get a demo of it somewhere - and make sure they put an Atmos movie on, not one of the crazy demo reels that don't actually tell you anything about what you think of the effects in a real watching scenario. As you note, the real advantage of a soundbar setup like Sonos etc is the wireless system that makes it less intrusive into living spaces.

@@LeezahB I can only compare to my sisters setup, which is an aging but at the time top of the line Yamaha 5.1 AVR with a esoteric, but very good set of also quite old speakers attached to it including a pretty good sub. - it was I always thought a very good setup - but she'd also had it wired into the house so there were no issues with cables. It was I always thought an amazing setup for movies compared to what I had at the time she got it. Eventually I assembled a Sonos Arc, 2 Era 300 surrounds, and 2 Sub Gen 3's for our TV room- and it is definitely significantly more immersive for content which supports Atmos than her system - plus the wife doesn't totally hate it - well she doesn't like the Era 300's up on the back wall, but she has seemingly come to accept it. If I could get away with an AVR Atmos setup, I would - and we do have a 3rd room that I'm planning on turning into a home theatre when (if) the kids leave - and I'll put an AVR system in there for sure. Anyway - best thing to do is to get a demo and see if you think the expense is justified.

Great video. I am wondering between JBL Cinema SB510-3.1 vs Yamaha SR-C20A for the same price, which one is better?

I am still wondering why there is that millisecond lag in the audio/visual for my Sony system? I have a new Bravia, Sony Receiver and even upgraded to a new Sony 4K blue-ray player The lag in the sync only happens when I play a blue-ray dvd. Regular dvds are all good, just blue-ray ones. I've tried to search to see what to adjust be it the tv settings but not sure.

Samsung Q990D looks bigger than Q930C. I am looking for my 55inch TV. Is it still worth to go with Q990D with 55 inch tv?

Is there a sound bar that can be mounted or tucked away behind the TV?

A Cheap AVR with some good speakers which will last a lifetime. Would make a good sound bar sound bar sound pretty hopeless. In the real world. Enjoying your films and music too. : )

I think it would be great if someone made a soundbar that could double as a center channel in a more traditional surround system if you upgraded later on. If Sony can do it with their TV speakers, then, surely, someone can do it with their sound bars. The center channel in my 5.1 system is great, but it's quite bulky and certainly could not fit under a TV.

Bang and Olufsen’s Theatre has this idea. It’s actually impressive how many older speakers of theirs they support, and you can also pair it with random in-walls or in-ceilings. Just a shame it costs the same as a small car.

The Roku does that. However it only works with the Roku satellites and sub so it’s like a HTIB type deal.

Dude side note. I recently came across this channel but the furniture and stagings used to display these tv's and speakers are insane. On the speaker note im still rocking a Bose cinemate 2.1 which has decent sound for being a 10 year old unit, but the mids are so so. Fun fact, if someone has the money to buy Bose, please do ur reaserch and buy something else as ive found bose is extrmemly over priced for what they offer. Dont get me wrong , the sound is good to great, but for the money u can definitely get something less mainstream that allows u to scale up ur sound. Im not an acoustics guy and just trust my ears but if u can afford a Bose you can probably afford a Harmon Kardon or something.
