Fun fact the original 2DS uses a single screen and it's just the bezel separating them cosmetically with the bottom screen difference only being the addition of a touch screen layer. (I assume the top/bottom screen graphics are just merged together in some kind of hardware based frame buffer or something) That's why that one 2DS had both screens consistently dim because it's all on one screen. ;)

the power saving mode on the 3ds series actually darkens the screens a bit, the same also applys to the 2ds. So the 2ds with the dark screen probably has power saving on

The New 2DS/3DS was an upgrade. Even later games that didn't require the upgraded hardware could have issues with the previous hardware. Pokémon Sun and Moon would restart the console if you closed the game because they really pushed the 3DS to the limit

Those volume sliders have two little micro pins on the slider plastic piece that is supposed to touch the metal slates under the metal shield. If there are micro pins bent up, just bend them down super gently to fix it. IPA can clean the slates/contacts too.

This is good to know. My grandson's volume slider isn't adjusting the volume on his 2ds. It's stuck in silence mode even using headphones

@@Wineoclockbookworm It’s a little different for a muted volume! The only two reasons why the volume wouldn’t increase is the little plastic tab isn’t aligned with the volume slider. There is a small chance that corrosion could’ve developed at the very bottom of the inside of volume control, but that would clear with a drop of isopropyl alcohol and sliding it back and forth. Just be VERY careful opening the 2ds. It’s easy to tear the ribbon cable for the camera and put you out $14 on a new one.

Well the good thing is that the OG 2DS is easy to replace, but the top screen in the 2DS XL are a pain to replace. So the sun damaged one should be an easy fix.

I bought a 3ds XL second hand. I didn't bother to throughly check the console until I got home. Just some scratches on the case but the only thing that annoyed me was that parental control. Luckily the first KZbin I looked up helped. It was so easy. Apparently it's harder to do that on the switch.

The first 2DS was so similar to mine. System: Red and black 2DS Aspects: No stylus (The reason for this with my 2DS is the clip part to my stylus itself broke off) SD Card inserted My 2DS battery isn’t bad yet and the volume slider works perfectly fine.

I gave my old 3ds xl to my sister and Did system transfer from her top screen broken 3ds xl and the sd card also got tranfered as well as the same card is stil used in my old 3ds from my sisters old 3ds

a really simple method you could try is checking for trapped dirt. you can clean it with a qtip dipped in IPA. if that doesnt work use a tweezer to GENTLY lift it up to unstick it. I'm not aware of any other methods that don't involve taking the cover off! Hope this helps...let us know!
