The movie shows, J*ke had no problem holding her hand in multiple scenes when they were alone, but when he was with his friends... nope. Hence the lyric, "you kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath"

The part of the film with dialogue between the actors was not planned. Apparently, the way the scene was shot, the music wasn't playing over the acting, and Taylor liked it so much she decided to keep it in. Unscripted, one shot (I believe). Also, Dylan is 32 and Sadie is 21 right now in real life, which I believe is about the same age difference of Taylor and the actual person she was with. Kind of creepily different in age for where they both were in their lives, if you get what I mean.

There are two dominant colors this is filmed through, too - warms/reds for her, cools/blues for him (and you can see them in the same shot in the kitchen after the fight and then later when 13 Years Gone is walking past her stairs when she’s leaving her house). When she plays this during Eras, the light up wristbands the crowd has changes between red and blue - it’s really cool.

Dylan O'Brien and Sadie Sink are two of the best actors of this generation. And the fact that they put their all into this when it's a music video instead of a movie or a multi-season TV show like both of them are used to acting in is insane to me and just further proves how great both of them are
