I’m in a cognition class rn and schemas are how people generally know things in their minds, like that birthdays have cake, trees are green, chairs have four legs etc. So my prof told us that people often fill in gaps in their memory with their schema of what they think that thing should have been like. Making them think they remember something a certain way, when it could have been totally different. And that DEFINITELY has something to do with the “Mandela effect” lmao

In the last woman's defence, there are stories about reindeer eating fly agaric (the classics red and white spotted mushrooms) and getting high off the psychedelics in them (this is *one* theory as to where the myth of flying reindeer comes from). HOWEVER fly agaric is toxic to humans (I think you can skim the very top off and bake it to get high without dying but don't quote me on that). What did happen was people figured out that it was toxic, but they saw the reindeer having a good time so they drank reindeer urine to get a residual high without dying. Not quite as glamorous as she made it out to be huh

about the christmas theory: the first like half of what she was saying is somewhat based in truth. christian missionaries would allow pagan peoples to keep certain traditions and use their celebrations and festivals as a way to assimilate them into christianity. since there was a winter solstice festival, they changed the date of jesus's birth to be closer to the solstice so more people would be inclined the celebrate a christian holiday. pagan and christian traditions and symbols eventually blurred together. the whole mushroom and elves part of it is probably bs tho.

Siri is saying how many days remain until the last day of 2021 (he said 2021 started 6 days ago - 6 January - 6+359=365) 2. Google is telling him how much time remains until 20:21 (8:21 PM - it's literally right under the result lol) 3. The filter is apparently only adjusted for two digit numbers (so assuming "days" is supposed to show 353 - again 6 January - 353+6=359 - Christmas Day) (I seriously don't understand how 4.7M people believe this stuff, it's literally just AI misunderstanding the requests)

The Siri might've been her messing up with a nonspecific prompt and assuming "Well, 1st of January, 2021 already passed, must be asking about 31st of December, 2021", thus giving the 359. The Google one was searching for the time 20: 21, using the 24 hour clock. The fitter probably was only programed to show 2 days, as most Christmas countdowns don't happen before 99 days, so it cut off the 3 in 353.

Dude you gotta be able to laugh about the crap you go through. I had a stroke 2 years ago, and I have nonstop stroke jokes. People occasionally give me a hard time because someone they know died from a stroke and I’m “insensitive.” They don’t believe I’ve actually had a stroke because I’m not 195 years old🤷🏻‍♀️
