There is so much vintage, ethnic, solid gold jewelry out there that have no stamp on them. They never used to stamp 22k or 24k gold from the far east in places like China or India. Many small local jewelry shops still make solid pieces by hand in those countries and do not stamp them. Just an FYI for you!

Having a stamp on your "gold" is a plus, but it's not what tells you if your "gold" is real or if it's the purity your suppose to be buying. The best thing to do before paying for your gold, is to acid test it in the store.

Tip- Anyone can buy a Metal purity stamp to mark it 14k, 24k etc. And also people can buy the clasp in solid gold but put them on a fake or gold plated, gold filled chain. I’d also try the magnet test and as he says in the video, look for color inconsistencies, fading turning green or coppery etc. And finally…if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Before investing in a solid gold piece of jewelry I would look up the current price (spot price) of gold per Troy oz and calculate a general amount you can expect to spend and use that as a guide when shopping around. There are formulas online to help you break down the cost of gold. Keep in mind there can multiple factors to consider where you’re purchasing it (wholesale, retail, pawn shop, estate sales, flea markets, etc.) is it new or used etc. Have an idea of cost before you make your purchase.

I’ve been looking at getting into making some chains myself (gonna start with silver Cuban chains to begin with). I’m in the process of purchasing the presses, rollers, spinners, the heavy duty tongs/plates to pour the molds into, and I already have a forge/medium sized crucible (need to get a smaller sized crucible also). My 2 big questions is there anything else that I’m missing to get started in the hobby game and to be able to make nice stuff for family members eventually. The first question is where do I legally get ahold of the stamps for silver and eventually gold? The second question is that if there is anything I’m missing or need to do to legally produce jewelry for hobby/for sale eventually. I live in Texas if that makes any difference but want to ensure I’m not doing anything illegal and to start out by having the right tools and materials for the jobs. I have a large amount of bars of silver that I was planning on using to make into chains, bracelets, rings, and eventually learning how to do different Diamond settings in the different pieces. I’ve been looking for a hobby like this that can hold the value of wealth we get in the precious metals and can increase the value by making it into jewelry or smelt it down if needed to make bars/proof coins (no claim to be made from any country or for any countries currency because I know that would be counterfeiting). If you’re able to give me any pointers it would be awesome but your channel is cool to watch and I’m looking at getting a 28” 5mm Miami Cuban chain in yellow gold within the next week if you still have it in stock to upgrade my old school 4mm yellow gold 26” curb chain.

@roringusanda2837 Жыл бұрын
That sounds like terrible value for your money!!😫 waaay overpriced! You could literally buy a Sterling silver chain with gold vermeil for way cheaper and it'd be more valuable. Please do yourself a favor. Save your money and don't buy anything from a place like Zales. They've got a bad rep, if you haven't heard, same as Jarrods, and cheap mall places like that. Save your money for a year, then go to a GOOD store, jeweler, and get a real chain with some value. Not to mention 10k is ugly as hell. The color is barely there, the finish is dull, you will always look like poor fool if you settle for giving your valuable time and money to ppl to pay for thing that aren't worth it. You say you have the ability and discipline to make those payments? Then use that to pay yourself! Pay yourself what your worth, and your worth more than cheap brass...find a style and color of mtal you like and wait, I'm saving for my personal favorite, a 22k gold snake chain, 4-6 mm...I like real high karat color. I'm wearing a nice 5mm flat snake right now, and it's like a starry ribbon of silk, it's worth something and looks beautiful. A 10k will never look beautiful. Use your head, not your envy of others, or your fear of not having something right now to go into debt for something that's never going to be worth what you're paying for it.
