Thas not what derailed his career. He had a tour and I went to one of his shows in the beginning of 2019. Then covid hit. He is also indie which is really really hard to do. He needed to go faster and it just was bad timing when he started to pop with “You”. Lil bruh had a lot of potential and prolly still do. But time waits for no one.

There's nothing wrong with what he said. He was the biggest male singer on the radio at the time. No one else was doing anything. Chris Brown was on break. Ne-Yo was MIA. Bruno Mars was considered more pop & the Weeknd was still breaking into the black fan base at the time. Everybody just got in their feelings for some reason. But the point is he was on the radio more than any other male r&b artist at that time. So what he said was valid. Even if it was for 15 minutes.

I’m a BIG Jacquees fan. To me the music he makes isnt really mainstream he makes kinda niche RnB music (which is fine shit still bangs lol) When I think of the KING OF RNB you think of those dancing bangers, and those mainstream beats (ie Forever by Chris Brown, Usher Confessions) to me he sometimes chooses weird beats. and his albums were always mid. He was a singles artist, at least to me. Remixing songs can help your career but when you become known for just doing remixes it starts to become a problem. All in all he is a great singer, okay songwriter, chooses meh beats. He had a decent run though
