I love kale. I used to be sick all the time until I started drinking kale juice. It has been 10+ years. Age > 50, my doctor is wondering why I am never sick anymore. Doctor said that I am in great health, perfect blood work, and I will live forever young. They don't believe me that kale is like medicine. I started growing Russian Kale 2 months ago. She's gotten big and healthy. I harvested her last month, and now she's ready for another harvesting! Love Kale. I am looking for the other varieties at the plant store. I will plant my whole backyard with KALE!!

Good information. I really like your style in the garden. The information you give is to the point, calm and soothing. No jarring jokes or drama. I have grown kale for years trying many types. I just don't like it. What I do grow and like are Collard greens, arugula, mizuna and chicory, punterelle or dandelion greens. So bitter is not my issue. I guess I just hate how fibrous it seems. I have described kale as like eating carpet.
@jacquesinthegarden2 жыл бұрын
If you let it sit in an acidic dressing it actually gets really tender, if you haven't tried Red Russian, or any Siberian type, I would say its the least fibrous and good for fresh eating. Curly kale is the worst for fresh eating and I would only eat in in cooked like potato kale soups.

I know I'll get a resounding "boo" from other gardeners but I have a kale bias. I ordered a kale salad at a local restaurant several years ago, back when it was new to menus - and it was the curly kale. So tough, so bitter. It was like eating a loofah. :) So yep, to your point, I "don't know what kale is". Obvi, I need to reconsider. This was an awesome reset perspective for me.
@jacquesinthegarden2 жыл бұрын
WOOO! That is the goal! Most of us have tainted memories of eating these plants elsewhere or as kids and we all need a little reset every once and a while.
