John Stamos and Kerry washington have had aggressive press tours as well, but they were able to write a memoir that was vulnerable, introspective and revealing while not using others to elevate the story... no one is thrown under the bus in those press tours or the books and we got reveals in those books as well. I think Jada's tone and the fact that she sacrificed her long suffering husband in order to make money and elevate the desire for the book had the opposite affect she wanted.

I’m just confused on why is it considered a flop? Is this based on opinion or fact? What makes it a flop if it’s in the top 5 on New York Times best sellers. I thought that’s what consumers look to for book rankings….And what did she loose exactly? It’s an autobiography. I read it and I read Wills book in 2021. He is still with her and ppl are still talking the same way they we’re talking 3 yrs ago. I don’t see what she actually lost by putting out her autobiography. The title of the podcast is that it flopped and that was the topic of discussion so yes that does matter.

I totally agree with the suggestion from the woman on the panel. From a pure strategic perspective, that would have been infinitely more effective. Because the problem is people were already tired of her. And when she DID go on the massive PR Tour, it actually seemed more detrimental as it exposed it would share nothing that people didn't already know. And further, her credibility throughout the process took a massive hit because she's a liar.

Definitely was some backlash at the time still went on to sell 200k first week and many people saying it was great. Just in case you dont know, to get a NYT best seller you only have to sell 5000 copies for nonfiction. It frankly doesnt mean anything anymore especially in the age of social media, where with a big name and good marketing you can hit that in a day. Brittney spears sold 270K, The lil girl from iCarly sold 200K, Michelle Obama book sold 800K the first week. Jeezy 'Adversity for sale' did similar numbers as Jada. so Yes sir i think we can say thats a flop. As a voracious reader myself, I didnt even look at her book. Also the problem is, in her interviews, she discredits what the book says. I’ve seen book reviewers point out that the whole mess with back pedaling about being separated for 7 years was BS. i agree with what Joe said...if people ask questions in an interview, the person being asked is going to answer...i just feel like she's getting a bad rep because people don't like her...they have said so much about this woman and i legit think folks just don't like her and that's unfortunate...it's like how they bad mouthes Hillary so by the time she came to run for President , she was so hated but everyone loved Bill...
