The symbolism of each “Jade” replacing the last representing how fickle the pop world is and how quickly people move on to the next big thing.. yet through it all, Jade can’t help but still love the industry despite how cruel it is. The symbolism of each “Jade” losing their control and autonomy when signing the “deal with the devil” and the pain in their eyes… this is the perfect visual metaphor for being catapulted in to X Factor levels of fame. I love all Little Mix girlies always, but Jade's debut feels most authentic and most like her. The video is iconic, extra, fun, quirky, the looks, the storytelling, the visuals, the cinematography, the different vibes between the nostalgic chorus and the hyperpop/y2k/2010's elements in the verses. Jade is definitely a master at her craft and knows her audience well. She'll always bring the most to the table.

Love your comment! And love the video. But saying it’s a story seen rarely from anyone in the spotlight is a bit of a stretch. There is literally a whole archetype of pop diva or movie star girlie that is tortured by her management or record label or movie studio and pushes herself to the edge through self harm. Aka Marilyn Monroe. Amy Winehouse. Anna Nicole Smith, Judy Garland..the list goes on…. but this is a really good video.

The video is freaking brilliant. So there's about three different versions of Jade, each with their own unique story. First, you've got the aspiring singer Jade with curly brown hair and white highlights, just hustling to make it big. Then, bam, the alreadyfamous Jade shows up with her white-blonde hair and major attitude. Things get wild when their manager sees the potential in the aspiring Jade and decides to sign her, ditching the famous Jade. Talk about drama, haha! The already famous (now former famous) Jade is super pissed and confronts the manager. Meanwhile, the aspiring Jade overhears their argument and starts seeing the music industry as way more cutthroat than she thought. She's trying to keep it together, but you can tell she's shook. Then comes red-haired Jade, who's flirting with the manager to get her shot at fame. The current Jade is feeling all kinds of emotions watching this go down. The former famous Jade, now totally desperate, lashes out at red-haired Jade for all the manager and angels (artists) to see. The current Jade starts to understand the former famous Jade’s bitterness and sees the harsh reality she once idolized. In the end, we find out that all this craziness was just in Jade's head and never really happened. At least that what I thought. What do you think?

@FedericoCastro-wm8clJesy's wasn't the worst. The fans made it bad but the song itself is catchy and samples one of her biggest musical inspirations. She has always said she likes RnB and hip-hop. Leigh-Anne and Jade stayed true to themselves as well. I would say Perrie's was the worst because the first step in making a song authentic is to write it. If not that, then either the vocals should be at the CD/WH level or the performance should be at the Madonna level. Neither of those were true for Forget About Us and this continues with Tears. Even her Whitney cover was not up to the mark.

I've never seen another mv that explains so beautifully the ungratefulness of the music industry. It takes courage to do this especially with a debut song... Jade's songwriting, vocals, song making and acting are truly flawless. @@claudiabcarvalhoi love Taylor, but I must say : she used to do that… the last really good MV imo is Look what you made me do… where she was hitting at events in a genius way. The worst example of a TS music video is Bejewelled, whose whole purpose was to announce that speak now was the next thing to come out… she went back to a proper music video when she released Fortnight, but I miss the videos where she used to tell a real story, like Blank Space!
@claudiabcarvalho3 ай бұрын
@@Inessss_ Nope, almost most of all of those videos tell a story. It's just that some are more explicit, while others are metaphorical. Cardigan is about falling from grace and having only your own music to rely on. Bejeweled was a Cinderella story to explain why Taylor wanted to rerecord her songs so much (the castle is her music empire, a parallel with "my pennies made your crown" from Karma, while the prince himself symbolizes all the guys she left behind - a reference to Midnight Rain -, because her career will always come first for her). Willow is also very literal. And don't forget All Too Well and I Can See You. The Man also has a story. The thing is that knowing her lore is a gift and a curse, because you end up missing the metaphors because you're focusing on the hype. I've been a mixer since Wings, and I recognized every easter egg and references Jade put into this. And it's not only Simon and Syco. She's referencing one of the ex-Spice Girls who called the girls too provocative when the Diva Jade attacked Red Jade. She's shading the media when the journalist ate her gum, because those tabloids only cared about trash instead of talking about things that actually matter. I know she was shading the people who told LM they had to flirt with American execs so they would play their songs on the radio when Red Jade flirts with the Psycho so he would give her a chance. And I can still see the story she's trying to tell, and how all of those Jades ended up being part of her over the years, but she still wants to be that first Jade who was just trying to make music. Everything has layers, if you look close enough.

Jade managed to inject every single aspect of her voice and personality into this song and video, and doubled down on everything she accomplished with the girls. The use of the sped up/slowed down trends in a single song is genius. SO worth the wait, incredibly well done Jade and team 💕

The STORY, the MUSICALITY, the ACTING, the PRODUCTION, the EDITS!! I'm swooning over this video. I love the way she expresses the way the pop industry chases after the next big thing, then the next, and cycle after cycle, depicting the toxicity it creates, but also how HARD they work to the bone. I love the way she expresses that even when nobody's looking at her, she'll still sing. I love how she expresses that sad, bittersweet feeling of being a super famous pop star, and then just blending into the crowds like nobody recognises you. This was so personal, and I love what Jade has to say, and I hope she continues to keep creating ART and expressing herself through her music 😭
