I think the guy that got smashed by the boulder is Martin. Looks like him and Martin spoke about how "sometimes you get stuck- and that's when they get you."
@incredibleedibledez4 ай бұрын
I disagree. I believe that just like Randall, Mari & Julie were trapped by the cicada-Martin & the two other corpses were trapped there to sustain the energy while the cycle renews.
@jasoncaldwell56274 ай бұрын
@@incredibleedibledez That's quite possible. It's also possible that Martin is Chris and he was punished for not completing his cycle/ritual when Victor wasn't killed with the rest of the town.
@incredibleedibledez4 ай бұрын
@@jasoncaldwell5627 but why would he have lied to Boyd & said his name was Martin? Boyd wouldn’t have had any way to make the connection at that point. The “sometimes you get stuck” statement could’ve also been referring to the fact that he was stuck in the dungeon, like Boyd thought he was stuck in the dungeon, which led to him getting trapped there. He just didn’t have the opportunity to escape from that “pocket dimension” before they chained him to the wall to feed from. It’s a really good show, I like the thought provoking conversations inspires with my son (that I’m watching with) & random folks on the internet.

Martin was also very good at manipulating Boyd also. Boyd keeps asking questions about who put him there, but he evades the question every time he asks.
@incredibleedibledez4 ай бұрын
@@stephanieclute6276 I think he evades the questions because Martin doesn’t even know who put him there. If you go back to the most recent cicada incident, it seems like it’s a completely separate entity from the actual monsters. & even Victor who’s been there the longest was kind of clueless when it happened. It comes from outside the town, in the forest and one of the entities had to die in order for it to come into the town. I feel like the town/forest is an entirely different dimension from our own and there’s a malevolent force over everything, that kind of traps them there to feed off them that is different from the creatures in the town.

An interesting connection between Jade and Tian Chen Liu So I believe that FROM has a ton of "Religious" undertones to whats going on. I've touched base before about what I perceived as such incedants backing up my theory. But I want to present this new one. I like how Jade and Tian Chen Liu have their dynamics around each other. And they both have opened up to one another in a bonding manner. Now lets look at what the name Jade means. "Jade is called the Stone of Heaven in China and lets us experience heaven on earth. In addition to being an important symbol of luck, Jade has been used in rituals and ceremonies throughout the ages. Believers carved Talismans with it as a symbol of protection." "In China, during the Han dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE), mourners often placed jade pigs in the hands of the deceased. They also used jade cicadas, symbols of cyclical resurrection, as tongue amulets to protect the body from decomposition. During the Shang dynasty (1,600 BCE-1,046 BCE)" "Ancient cultures would whisper that Jade was a Dream Stone. It’s highly renowned for its metaphysical magic and is often used as a tool in emotional healing, dreamwork, and connecting with higher realms. Back on the ground and Jade is also an amulet for good luck, a talisman for welcoming abundance, and a stone of sublime peace and well-being." Ok, so now we all know what the nane/word Jade mean. Jade has a very special connection to the people of China. They consider Jade to have good luck and even use Jade as a "Talisman" to protect one's self or someone else. In ancient China when someone died they used Jade CICADAS as clical resurrection. Also, Jade is associated with being able to reach a dream state in order to connect with other realms. So I don't think it's a coincidence that Tian Chen Liu who is of Chinese decent and Jade having bonded like they did. Is Jade a human Talisman for Tian? Or that Jade CICADAS are used in a ceremonial/ritualistic funeral for the deceased? How about Jade being called "The Stone of Heaven" when it's theorized that FROM could actually be taking place where everyone is dead and either in Heaven or stuck in Purgatory trying to get into Heaven. Or everyone is trapped in Hell and hoping that Jade ( the man) will find a way for them to leave Hell and accend to Heaven since he's doing everything he can to decipher what the symbols that he keeps seeing actually mean? Then we have Jade representing The Dream Stone which gives credibility to maybe everyone and everything is a dream that you can only leave by triggering something to wake you up and snap out of the NIGHTMARE. So in closing you have Jade the man and Jade the stone both having significants with Tian Chen Liu as maybe him being a Talisman around her. The CICADAS swarming the town when someone dies. Or have Jade be your guide in otder to find Heaven and be at peace. Or using Jade as a tool to escape the catatonic dream state everyone is trapped/experiencing together? Well that's just my .02 cents. Feel free to expand on my theories or impeach my train of thought as being way off base. I appreciate anyone who read all of this and responds back whether in a positive or negative light. Thanks!

I like this theory. I was reading about the Tang Dynasty and Chinese medicine for FROM comparisons. I think Tian, Jade and Ethan are the most important characters.

The hallucinations of Tom are just Jade's subconscious. Jade and Tom didn't have a special relationship. Jade obviously has the answers , Tom is his subconscious helping him sort it out. The first time Jade sees Tom, he's frustrated and trying an exercise that helps him focus and work things out. Father Khatri is the same for Boyd. Some of your theories are way out there.

Do you think that the Tom entity is the same one that took Father Kathri's form? Or the vision of Ellis in the well? Why don't we talk about that?!? The Lighthouse isn't in From land at all.- the townsfolk would be able to see it and it's searchlight if it was within twenty miles and you can't see it from Colony House (the highest elevation,). Rewatching the series, I think there's some places we need to screenshot - there's a huge drawing of some sort on the back wall of Victor's semi trailer and an entire wall of drawings that we haven't seen yet. Also, we need to examine the Big mysteries- what else do the Talismans do? We know there are twelve of them and they're each unique. I think the one Boyd had after leaving Martin's dungeon made him invisible to the monsters in the forest. Second, why did the voices tell Sarah to murder Toby and disembowel him so it appeared the monsters did it? They also had her leave the door open for the monsters, so they SHOULD have killed Toby the same way anyway. Why was Toby special? Thirdly, we need Elgin to spill the tea on what he knows about the Brundels. Victor was right when he said "I trust don't him". Indeed. Me neither. Or Tilly. I'm convinced that Tilly isn't human. I think she's one of the other monsters in the drawings.

Why? Because they're throwing everything at the wall and hoping it sticks. They're not going to address half of the question and the ones that they do address are going to be quick fixes and underwhelming. I have absolutely no faith in the shit writing.

Either those entities are benevolent mentors or actively seeking out suitable vessels for their transference of knowledge to From denizens as they're just as trapped as the humans are. If memory serves, Tom had a PhD in philosophy so his analytic mind may come in handy to help "birth" the insights required within Jade who is both a genius inventor and seems to be on the spectrum, i.e. doubly gifted to see and think outside the box. He's the key to connecting the dots laid out by that particular entity. In that context, the BiW could symbolize the erasure of knowledge, resetting the status quo, leading astray whomever he perceives as a threat to his mantra/programming. Before you said it yourself, it came to that Jade sees the past while Tabitha foresees the future. Maybe they need to work in tandem with Sarah (who kept hearing voices and receiving messages cut into her skin in the present) to fully grasp Fromland's nature. Of course, for that to transpire Tabitha needs to be returned somehow.

This is EXACTLY what the writers want you to do, is question EVERYTHING in the show and in the end, don't give you fuck all...just like Lost (which is why I loved that show). I love From, but I have a feeling we're not going to get answers to anything. Remember the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 or the weird Egyptian symbols from Lost? We never got ANY explanation for them. It'll probably be the same with this show. The story is going to continue to move on (with weird stuff) with no explanations that keeps you watching. I just can't wait for season 3 to see what more crazy shit they've come up with...and with more questions and no answers lol

After re-watching season one and season two of from, one thing struck me:the children’s rhythm. it almost seems as if the people saw the tree, were trapped in a fairy circle…. Not the good, cute fairies, but the Guiermo del Toro inspired fairies don’t like humans. I can’t remember the exact phrasing, but it just seems like something that would come out of a very dark, twisted, Grimm fairytale compilation. So if the inhabitants of Fromville, trapped in an alternate reality created by the Tuatha de Dannen I don’t think they’re getting home.

good video, as always but consider this, the boy in white might not be "good" because basically he sent Boyd to the light house, with Martin and that leads to everything else with the worms, and music box ect ect.. I don't know if the boy in white wants to give answers.. he might be the evil one, and that makes me think based off what you said, that if you want to consider whatever entity was manifesting itself as the bartender, encouraging Jade to seek answers to help the people, might be the same the same as the boy in white. .but I am not sure. I think in fact they are on opposite sides.. I don't think the boy in white and the kids from the caves are one in the same ..and the boy in white is not a "boy" .
@jasoncaldwell56275 ай бұрын
Good ideas! I'm certain that the Voices that plagued Sarah at the start of season one are evil and that "kill the boy" message was misunderstood by her- They wanted her to kill the Boy In White, not Ethan. I also don't think the BiW meant for Boyd to go to the dungeon where Martin was and for Sarah to pop out in the Church basement. Remember that he told SARAH to get into the Farway Tree- but then she has Boyd go first because he was hurt. I think Sarah was supposed to go to the dungeon. I'm also not 100% sure I believe Sarah when she says she was hiding in the church basement for a few days

Jade has to find some divine knowledge. For that, he has to make a sacrifice. He was shown the soldier in the underworld with blood coming from his eye. He should've ripped out his eye as a sacrifice, like Odin at Mimir's well. Remember when Clara had a Clairvoyant moment atop Colony House? She showed us the storm and said they needed to hurry getting into the house. Then she got an eye injury? Then she had an eye-patch. That's divine inspiration, and there must be a sacrificial exchange. Jade was then shown a Great Tree. Representative of the World Tree, or even a cross. Or The Cross. In any case, it's wood, and a god must make a sacrifice to gain knowledge again. Odin hung for 9 days as a sacrifice to himself to gain cosmic levels of knowledge and understanding. Jesus did the same on The Cross and his sacrifice was also to himself. He did it for the glory of The Father (Odin is the All-father in this aspect), but also to bring glory to the Son of Man who was fully human and fully a god, before AND after all of that. (According to the Christian New Testament.) Then Jesus went to the Underworld experiencing the Harrowing of Hell. (All of these things can be googled, btw.) Bringing the Good News to all of the worthy souls waiting in places like Sheol. In the Hebrew Bible, Sheol is described as the underworld, or the place where the dead go after their earthly lives. The term can be interpreted in multiple ways, including a literal place in the ground, or a subterranean realm of darkness and gloom. Sheol is also a symbol of death's finality and separation from the living world. I tell you this because searching out the katabasis stories in various mythologies will give us the story beats being touched upon in our show. All mystery shows are based on these tales. It shows us archetypes we are familiar with and that can be a good indication of where our story is going. The place wants a sacrifice from Boyd, as well. Which is why when Boyd went to the well and time traveled, or otherworld traveled, he was shown a vision of Ellis at the bottom of the well, talking about taking a boat that he never rode "out." Ellis' name is also interesting in many mythologies. But if you read up on Jesus Christ, you might notice the story of Lazarus. The man Jesus raised from the dead after 4 days in the tomb. Lazarus is the Latin name, I believe. But the Hebrew equivalent is Eleazer. That's not a very stealthy modern name, but Ellis is a good choice to update such a name for modern ears. And I think Ellis getting stabbed was some massive foreshadowing. He got stabbed, but was saved by CHRISTi. This show says a lot with mythology parallels and the names of their characters.
