its not a simulation, its the border world between worlds, between the physical world, and the spiritual and dream worlds. a borderlands if you will. its why the place is liminal in nature. its not a real world in the same sense as earth is a world, rather its a looping place where the dreams of people are made into reality. basically its kind of like the backrooms, except the backrooms is a whole hell of a lot safer. the endless forest possibly extends on forever, or even if you traveled far enough you'd end up in strange other places. as its a semi dream world. remember how people have dreams there where they actually end up harmed as if they weren't dreaming. and also the way light interacts with the world. even the talismen, they are dream catchers, keeping the dream demons, out unless you. let them in. its also why the dream demons or nightmares smile all the time, and hunt and move slowly. there demons, there enjoying themselves. or rather, there the nightmares of people. the fact that one got killed means that they can indeed be slain, or at least destroyed, but only by a nightmare or dream demon worse then themselves.

Nice theory. I think the faraway trees lead to upside-down world which can be the world of dreams. This world is depicted on the talismans. Like you said, both worlds affect each other. Looks like things can be brought from the upsidedown world to Fromville and vice versa. Looks like the monsters are from this mirror world. Maybe the resident of Fromville will use this relation to their advantage.

No doubt dreams play into it, but the show already established the monsters used to be human

One-Imagine if the people of Fromville were to lure a monster into a trap, capture one overnight and see what happens to it during the day. Two-Imagine if the escape or way out is at night. The people of Fromville would go to where the fallen tree is and that’s how get out. I think the monsters job is to keep them rounded up and too afraid to leave at night. Lastly, think of this- the longer you stay in Fromville the less you remember ensuring no one escapes.

I was wondering if the monsters could be killed in their sleep, when Victor and Tabitha were walking by them, in the cave. How on earth is it not common knowledge that those two saw the monsters' sleeping place...lol? It amazed me that Victor and Tabitha spent the night with Boyd in Victor's truck, and no one talked about what had just happened to them! It t'd me off when Martin was trying to tell Boyd something about the place, and Boyd interrupted him and changed the subject! What the heck??

Dream catchers aren't for catching/preventing nightmares. That's just what you get told when you're buying a mass produced souvenir. They catch dreams good and bad, and the dreams you catch are the dreams you have. If it was catching nightmares then you'd be having nothing but nightmares. Dreams give us wisdom, solace, and a way of speaking to our family members, and ancestors (among other things).

The nursery rhyme is talking about Fae folk, its what they do. The dancing music box symbolize how fae dance and play music to cast illusions at the fairy mound where Boyd met the Fear Gorta. He both blessed and cursed Boyd, but the fairy sought justice for setting Fear Gorta free, that price being three which is a magical number in Irish folklore.

Great video again and a great question to ask too! I think that the show has had plenty of opportunities to show the monsters eating the humans. For example, the Jasmine monster bit off Kevin's tongue, at the start of the colony house massacre, but she immediately spat it out. Later, Kevin's corpse was shown to have had nothing removed. So yeah, the show makes no clear attempt to tell us that the humans are being eaten, rather, there is a lot of emphasis on the monsters torturing the humans. Sometimes we do see a few organs nearby the corpses, examples being Megan's mum s1ep1, Tom the barman s2, so maybe they are just tossing the parts to the side. We need the answers! Roll on season 3!

Can the monsters be wendigo? I think wendigo needs to eat human flesh. Another thing is that to become wendigo you actually have to start eating human flesh. Maybe the monsters were previously the residents of Fromville and were forced to eat other humans because of lack of food and due to this they changed to wendigo.

My darkest speculation was that the monsters removed the tongues and a few select organs from each person in conjunction with the illusions they make about their appearance. I think the Diner food is actually the harvested organs of the murdered people. Endless pancakes, you say? Unlimited supply of tea? There are FIFTY townsfolk (including Colony House) and there's just no way the little Colony House garden, some chickens and a pair of goats and a cow can feed everyone.

Love the show, and I've been an avid watcher, but the writing and some of the characters leave a lot to be desired. The showrunners have written themselves into a corner where only teo theories make sense: purgatory or a simulation/experiment.

I am just starting to wrap my head around From (just finishing season 2) and had watched Lost back in the day. What if the mole is placed in the Town to ensure there’s a supply of hopeful people there to feed/distract the monsters so the monsters don’t end up traveling to the realm the mole is from? In a way the monsters are trapped in the Town but to keep them there, they need to be kept occupied? Idk. I noticed Fatima had a yellow sweater and Boyd wears a lot of yellow (he has that yellow coat he wears before going to the woods). Yellow can be symbolic of hope/happiness but is also symbolic of caution/danger/deceitfulness. I think the colors and outfits characters wear may tie into some themes of the show. Or the colors characters wear are complete red herrings.

I've not seen Fatima wearing sneakers; Sara wears boots; Julie wears blueish sneakers; Kenny's Mom wears dark, slip-on shoes. Rewatching the show, though, and I'm looking for those sneakers...lol. All the other characters at the time were previously occupied. 16:18 the “worms” can either be good or bad. Martins works kept him alive for a long time, possibly a century, without food or water. As soon as the worms left him he immediately died. Martin was good. The “good worms” entered smiley snd instantly killed the evil creature. It’s not a different dimension it’s a different time. We can clearly see the ruins of the dungeon when Boyd exits. THAT faraway tree moved Boyd through space AND time. This means that Sara is ENTANGLED not to the town, but that specific TIME PERIOD where Martin was chained. This is why could hear the music box and knew exactly where it was at. We know shockingly little about Sara’s past This is also why the writers gave Jade the career of Quantum computing software engineer. They didn’t pull it out of a hat. Also, when are we going to start seeing this as a version of Peter Pan. Victor is Pan, the man with horrible memory (draws everything) and acts like a child. I always refer to FROMville as “the island” simply because in LOST the island moves, and it’s the donkey wheel that moves it. Wheels, cogs, gears, the merry-go-round, etc is a constant theme in this show, and not for nothing. Everyone arrives *from* somewhere else, because once again the island moves.
