Yes! It's so great to get another Interview with Daniel. I like the Interviews that Daniel does far more, because he is often an actual fan as well as someone who actually read the books and not just some Journalist asking a few questions after reading the Wikipedia articles of the books.

Fonda Lee is such an amazing speaker on top of writer. You don't always see writers who are also able to enunciate and speak at the caliber they write. So much respect to her and also a really interesting book trilogy.

Just went to buy Jade Legacy and I can't help but remember her complaint about bookstores and bookshelf space. It. Is. So. Accurate. Barnes and Nobles straight up didn't have her book in my city but had 5 different *versions* of The Eye Of The World. Look. I *love* RJ. It's why I became a subscriber to you when you were at like 50k subs, but it is *absurd* that there were so many different copies of the book. As a result, so many good authors are losing out. /Rant

I just finished this book. What a ride. As an Asian-American who loves fantasy, this is the kind of series I wish existed when I was a kid. The characterization throughout the series was stunning. I think Kaul Hilo in particular resonated so much because she did such a great job of defining his value system that his motivations always felt consistent and real. Most alpha-male type characters I encounter in fiction seem to be wish-fulfillment macho power fantasies or wish-fulfillment romantic leads, but Hilo is allowed to just be who he is, whether that's what you want him to be or not. It's a refreshing take on that particular type of character. This was a great interview, and it felt so much more refreshing than a lot of other interviews with creators I see. When I see an interview with some authors, I feel like they're trying to build this mystique about themselves and their creative process. Fonda Lee comes off as someone who's passionate, works hard, is intentional about her decisions for the story, and suffers from that anxiety about whether she's getting it right that all creators face whether they admit it or not. She's very authentic.

I finally finished this book. And the simplest way to put it would be to say, I couldn't have ended the year on a better note. A story about family, kungfu and some of the greatest characters I've read is just a perfect sendoff for a year that included other perfect books like wisdom of crowds and all of WOT for me

What a scoop Daniel! I've been waiting all year for Christmas so I can read Jade Legacy. Lee is one of the best authors for character driven plots in years. I truly hope an adaptation does justice to the nuanced cast of real people in the trilogy and doesn't rely on martial arts special effects.

Just finished Jade Legacy. It ruined me. So many scenes that were still with me when i woke up the next morning. But an incredible read. It did feel like a 4 season TV show, that makes a lot of sense. Was really cool seeing a different kind of story so well executed.

That last section was fantastic. *spoilers* The way the actions of the various family members and the strengths they’d individually gained throughout their lives came together was very satisfying. It was also interesting how the members of the Kaul family behaving in merciful ways at times would pay off for them and then come back around again. And that one guy somehow making it to the end 😂

I looked at Jade City on Amazon and was hesitant to read it because it just didn't seem like something I would really reasonate with. Based oin Daniel's review and this interview I decided to give the series a chance. I'm super glad I did. I've finished Jade City and am now half way through Jade War. The characterization is absolutely amazing. I care about every character - even if I don't really like them as a person. The story is well written, interesting, and has kept me really engaged. What a great series and so glad I subscribe to Danie's channel so I get to see some of these book I normally wouldn't pick up, but end up loving!!!

First thing loved the interview and book series. Second I was trying to remember a book series I believe I got recommendation from this channel. So it's a book about a boy who gets adopted by an assassin who the best in kingdom. He does all like this gardening to make his poisons and I believe there like these metals we find out about later that kept him alive for really long time. The boy decides to leave assassin's when he falls in love a girl who was childhood friend and got her face burned or cut but thinks she still beautiful. He's been sending her money under the guise of some rich guy to pay for all her schooling and things. Please if any one could help.
