I give them as much sun as I can in winter, they are so slow growing, dont expect much from them until spring.

Super, good to see others successful with Jade, not something I've been successful with but I keep trying. My neighbor has 3 huge jades and I can pick or cut whenever I want, nice bonus.

Hi there... I know this is from 4 years ago.. what happened to the strange looking jade leaf cutting, the one you popped into a small egg thing... Reason I ask is I took a leaf cutting some years ago and the result was a trailing plant.. it looked a bit like yours.. some bits have now grown into jade as we know it.. I’m interested as I can’t find any Reference to this happening with jades.

I take cuttings in any season and they do fine.

I have a jade that is like 20 years old. It got overwatered. Can I just hack it at the base? It is like 4 inches across.

I would try and let it stay as tall as possible. Lots of sun and no water, and it should likely put out new growth at the top of the damaged plant, so keeping the trunk will look more natural. You can cut these back, but I usually only cut younger growth.

@@GiveitaGrow Thank you for your reply. Exactly what I was asking is if I can chop off the root ball which seems dead. There is plenty of trunk, but I think the dead parts are actually impeding new root growth.

I would say keep the roots, perhaps remove the plant, soil/roots and all, from its pot and let it dry for a few days in the open air. Some of roots could still be alive and the dead ones dont do any harm. I hope that helps.

I treat them like normal succulents, letting the soil dry completely then a good soak.
