People don’t understand how voices work. There is a good reason Tori was the star of the show and not Cat or Jade. If you studied music or have been in Choir you’d understand that Tori’s voice is superior to both Cat’s and Jade’s voice ranges. I wouldn’t bother paying attention to any comments on here. I’m pretty sure they don’t know a thing or two about singing. Toris character was written badly though but it’s not Victoria’s fault at all she just acted the way they wrote it. Victoria can sing well it’s just she doesn’t have a wide range and the staff knows it that’s why they prepared songs which are compatible with her range. The songs were written so she doesn’t have to sing in a higher range and strain her voice.

For those of you saying “Tori started it by flirting with Beck in the first episode”, I hope you realize that Tori was new to the school and that was her very first encounter with Beck. And let’s not forget Jade literally spilled COFFEE on Tori in front of the whole class!! Hell, if someone did that to me I’d do MORE than just kiss their boyfriend. Id be FUMING, as anyone else would if this was real. For those of you saying Tori was a horrible person to Jade, let me summarize a few key events that some people seem to forget. • Tori refused to kiss Beck EVEN after he ended things with Jade. Why? Because even though she liked him, she couldn’t do that to a friend. Before this, Jade literally STOLE her role at the Platinum Music Awards. And she still had the decency to be loyal to Jade even after this happened. • Tori found a woman who would willfully pay for Jade’s play, even after she was nasty to her in the first scene. When the woman wanted to change things in her play, Tori even helped arrange it in the end so Jade could still have it the way she wanted. • After Jade faked the whole “bloody eye” thing, Tori STILL took the blame for Jade so she wouldn’t get in trouble. I sure as hell know I wouldn’t be that nice to someone who tried to ruin my reputation in front of my whole school. • When Tori and her friends all got sent to prison during their trip to Yerba, Jade wouldn’t stop intimidating a strong prisoner. She shoved Jade to the ground and if Tori didn’t step in and stop the fight, Jade probably would’ve gotten beaten up for that. And then she STILL had the audacity to say she didn’t need Tori’s help. Like... what? Keep in mind, these are only a FEW highlights of her kindness towards Jade, despite her literally being a ruthless bully. Don’t get me wrong, I know Tori wasn’t the perfect character. But literally ALL of the characters have done at least ONE wrongdoing in the show, so bashing Tori for some of the things she did in the show is just unfair and really shows what kind of a person you are. And Tori didn't know that Jade had planned her play the same day of her prom, and Tori and Beck's kiss was just a stage kiss Tori did as a payback for Jade pouring coffee on her head during her first day of school. And beck could have also pulled away but he didn't. Also when Beck tried to kiss her for real to be with Tori after breaking up with Jade in Tori goes Platinum Tori refused cause she wanted to be a loyal friend to Jade despite Jade not even considering her a real friend.

Everyone's saying how Jade has every right to hate Tori, but Jade was-and still is-a bully waaayy before Tori even started "stealing" her thunder. Tori never purposefully went out of her to steal other people's thunder and she was never mean to anyone. Jade, on the other hand, demeans Tori every chance she gets. And if hating Tori really wasn't Jade's fault, then Jade wouldn't be bullying everybody else in school, which she does. She's even mean to her own boyfriend. It is clear that Jade has some serious issues with jealousy (e.g. she get's jealous when any girl that Beck talks to even when he's super faithful). So her problem with Tori is not about Tori at all. If this were real and not a show Jade would actually be a really toxic person. There are also people under other Victorious clips saying how Tori should not have been the main character/star of the show because the other characters are more talented. I agree that the others are better singers, but Tori's personality suits her as the leader/star of the show.

Eh sorry if this is long...People can still talk about the characters but on both sides they go a bit far; on KZbin there is a whole community where people talk about characters and etc. Tori may be average but she's not a complete Mary Sue because she does make mistakes however un like Jade, she did learn from them most of the time. While I do think some Nick characters are generic Victorious was one of the most popular shows for a reason. While the characters did fit some teenage tropes they were overexaggerated and funny and they all had their own quirks, which in my opinion made the show pretty entertaining. And while Jade was meant to be the mean character, I think people have a problem with people justifying her actions or emulating her behavior in real life, which though she is fictional is not that great. :/

Unpopular opinion: I don’t really like Jade. For me, she’s an antagonist character that says some funny things but overall does rude things consistently that go unchecked. It’s extremely unsatisfying to me. Her character isn’t really complex; she’s just the mean girl who hates everyone except for her boyfriend. That’s a ridiculously common movie and television show trope. She’ll do pretty much anything to make other people (especially Tori) upset and it’s unsatisfying, as a viewer, that justice is rarely served. I’m not saying I like Tori. Her vocals definitely don’t match up to those of her cast members. Her character is overall bland and worsens over the three seasons. However, whenever she does anything wrong she always learns her lesson in the end instead of her actions being left unchecked and no overall theme being reached. I know, I shouldn’t be dissecting a television show for kids this much, but I’m just really confused that people idolize Jade despite how bad of a character she comes off as to me. However, opinions are opinions, and I don’t have any ill will for people who like Jade. She has some really funny or cool scenes. Her singing is amazing, too. She has really good parts. However, I just feel like her overall behavior that people idolize and say that Tori deserved was what made me really not like her when I was younger and still not like her as much as the other characters now.
