Frostner has been doing amazing for me with the knock back, the frost slow, and dot from it being silver. I cannot stress how perfect it is for this biome

@@itsdeadshot2501 largely it depends on the skill level tbh. Blunt is viable, unlike slash, in other biomes earlier in the game so high mace level is more likely, which then means Frostner is better than Mistwalker.

@RedhawksReport doesn't mist walker apply frost aswell so it's basically the same a Frostner but more damage. We're talking about ashlands. But yeah for other biomes it may be different. Also spirit damage from the mistwalker works

@@itsdeadshot2501 i am talking about the skill level that affects your damage. if you have never used swords before, then your skill level is very low or even 0. Whereas in both Black Forest and Swamps blunt is your best option so mace skill will likely be your best. In the mountains it's mostly bow but for melee, it's likely that since you've used maces before, you will stick with that. Do you see where I am going with this? so by the logic of what you have used previously (maces) the mistwalker (sword) would be worse than Frostner. Heck the frostner is just as good if not better than the mistwalker in the Mistlands :D

Those spires in the water have a way of bottle necking you into certain areas. My son and I made landfall and were too busy fighting to build anything for a long time. We battled droves of mobs for almost a half an hour. Find those monuments and take them out as quick as you can. It won't help as much as you'd like, but a few less mobs will be coming at you. I (the tank) went down before we got our portal built. My son (the mage) barely survived the onslaught, but finally managed to loot my corpse and get the portal up. There's no such thing as being over prepared for that landing. Good luck everyone.

the water can and will very rapidly kill you. there is a somewhat hidden temperature gauge (appears at the edges of the screen when you get hotter) that goes up while in the boiling sea and lava (lava is far quicker to fill up however). Once its full you will start taking around 10? damage a tick, likely killing any unsuspecting players.

In my ignorance I went with the longship. I managed to get the ship to the coastal spires. I managed to get on a rock and jumped from rock to rock to the mainland. I didn't take any damaged when swimming in the water weirdly.

@@salmonsnake44 the heat buildup when in the boiling sea is slower than you think, if you want to see if first hand without committing the unliving you can head to a shoreline/cost in the ashlands, and walk into about waist/shoulder deep water and watch the edges of the screen and eventually your health depleting

You don't need a blast furnace you just need 2 iron for a stone cutting table and then build the new portal to bring the flametal to your base! No need to mine any metal either, just take the forts as they have good amounts of metal and gems! You just need the hoe and a workbench to raise ground to get into them! Also the cogs come from the ballistas in the forts! They always drop, they're not rare at all!

Mob spawn rates are ridiculous. Maybe we spawned near a bad spot, yet we cleared three closest spawners and continue to get incredibly overrun. We all run basically max level gear.

You should use a catapult with the explosive ordinance against the flametal nodes. You can get 30 or more ore from one node, but only 12-16 from using the pick. Also, I'm thinking we should be making a bow that has the rooting capability from the green gem. Being able to root an enemy form a distance will be key, if that works.

yeah the amount of spawns is insane. ive destroyed a couple monuments but it doesnt seem to really have slowed anything down

I’m dying so fast on the easier combat setting 😂 this is crazy. I love this game though not saying it should be changed. I just need to get better, in previous biomes you could get away with a parry and roll now and then also cheesing enemies but Ashlands feels like something out of Elden ring it’s definitely less forgiving then other biomes

I have it on normal and I'm finding it a challenge but I enjoy that as walking round other biomes is a little easy once you beat the queen so this is a welcome challenge but yea man it's tough going lol

r=the frost staff is better in my opinion than the fire in comparison to damage to how much magic you use its peaty close between the frost and fire staff but the frost staff slows down enemies for a shot amount of time its alos great for killing the vultures who are weak to frost damage

This update sucks. Ashlands is NOT fun. It’s tedious. Cannot go out at night. Lava is unforgiving. Spawners hiding in rocks. Literally boss type mobs everywhere. The new weapons are cool. I kind of relate this to discovering a new biome. Once you’re in the swamp for a few days-it’s way easier. Same with the plains. Same with mistlands. Same with the Black Forest. A couple of days in each biome, you start to adjust. Whatever dev lead this charge, needs to be put on garbage can and filing detail. He/she ruined it. I login for thirty minutes, play and logout. Whereas I used to enjoy playing for hours. It’s overkill.

Mistlands was a relatively steep learning biome but Ashlands? Nuts! It's so bad I'm not keen to carry on exploring them. Skill losses every death leaves a player drastically underpowered. The worst thing about Ashlands is the music, like frost caves, the soundtrack is like jazz played by a band all s**tfaced on LSD.

Like he said spawning seems a bit messed up so it's probably gonna get adjusted so that a human can play in the biome as I'm a bit scared as well from what I've seen , but yeah it should be tougher than the mistlands still as that's the idea of the game you progress trough biomes that get tougher and tougher if you dislike the fact that the difficulty is ramping then I'm really sorry but the devs always said that this was the plan and it make sense for this kind of game , so yeah either face the Ashlands like a man or tweak settings , just don't go around crying about a beta that you haven't even tested when well like I said it's a beta xD
