I think day[9] might have been told something wrong regarding sairs. I played at pretty ok level back then (for a foreigner ofc). In Denmark sairs + dt was dubbed the “Asmodey opening” from the Russian pro gamer who we first saw use the style against us. I think it might have been as early as 2000. Asmodey opening against z was 1-2 sairs + dt into two base expand and then cannons + storm into a macro game. Over time it became much more flexible and was just a common 1 gate+ sairs opening for scouting and OL Harassment and to shut down Mutalisks (the Zerg scourge counter came a little later). Sometimes sairs were used with dt and sometimes just feigning dt and expanding without them yolo. Zerg could not pressure exp before OL speed. Sairs were used on the pvz progaming scene well before bisu as far as I know (didn’t he became a household name around 2005?). At least I remember it was in Europe and I can’t imagine American servers were any different. :) But bisu likely perfected it or perhaps made a trademark and better spin on it? That seems very plausible.

If someone asks me what a textbook jaedong match is like, I think I would point them to this one. Underdefend early in order to put some pressure on, get well behind on supply so that it looks like one big push around the 11 minute mark would kill him, survive with good micro and rapid reactions, macro better than anyone (except maybe Flash), snipe key units (high templar, etc.) get up to defiler level, overwhelm your opponent with multipronged attacks and dark swarm, and beat a great player.

So far the most consistent, successful tactic for ZvP is to deny the Protoss mining bases and trade armies. Toss armies are stronger than Zerg with High Templars and Archons and all that stuff, but Hydralisk and Zerglings are cheaper to replace.

Hi falcon! First off I hope your doing ok and that your channel prospers, You were THE KZbinR to watch during my high school Era. second, if it’s not an annoying thing to ask, do you think you could make an “educational” Starcraft cast? What I mean by that is I’m not the most knowledgeable Starcraft player, I usually watch it because it’s fun to do so but much of the slang goes over my head. Like the meaning of “9 pool” or why the closest base is called a natural and not a first base. so I figured maybe you could do an episode where as you cast you just do a short explanation of what all those little phrases mean. If not it’s completely fine, I still watch pretty much every video you make. In any case I hope things go well for you in life, you seem like a cool fella.

@CardboardArm4 жыл бұрын
I don't think JD was behind that much really. He took out both corsairs early on which made Stork lose map control. After that he could pressure Stork's front forcing him to build defenses instead of expanding. And because he build cannons Stork was in no real shape to attack JD after repelling that attack either. Stork killing a lot of drones with Dark Templar right there and then was the only thing that kept him in the game, but with 4 bases up, those drones where easily replaced.

Zerglings and drones die instantly by a single dark templar blow. No warning sounds are made if a unit dies within one blow. terran scvs need two dark templar blows to get killed, which gives the player a warning phrase. So zerg players need to be more focused to notice a dark templar attack.

Personally I felt less like Jaedong played like a beast and more like Stork just got overconfident or tried to close it out too hard while not hitting the weaker, outliers. He was so far ahead if he just pulled a nasty contain on Jae and kept up expansions he could have won through attrition and macro. Just don't fight the army head on without reavers, attack em where he's weak!!
