+Brummyred Thank you! It's great to be back after a month that saw me travel to five different cities in three countries (plus a live auction that I hosted). You guys on our channel are the absolute best for your patience and enthusiasm. I've got a lot of "lost time" to make up on this KZbin channel! Best, Tim

Hi Tim, I hope this question reaches you and you can either post here or mention this on your live show. I love JLC, but looking at the Grande Reverso 976 vs the new for 2017 Reverso Classic large small second, it feels to me like the case and dial where replaced with a "more affordable" movement, and sized slightly differently to lower the price point. Also the new movement I believe is slower frequency wise and I think they got rid of the display back. In short, do you think this Reverso Classic large is a replacement for the Grande Reverso 976? And if they are comparable, are the changes worth the lower price point? I love your website and show!

Wonderful review as always. The one thing that I always felt could be improved in your videos was the zoom of your camera - now it's perfect. Your watch channel is easily the most informative and unbiased on KZbin. Keep up the good work!

+Jason Park Thanks Jason! My equipment slowly evolved from a phone taped to a chair into the semi-pro setup I use today. Video quality has improved dramatically, and I've listened to feedback from the channel to help me tailor the features of the videos. Wrist shots, mandatory caseback views (even for solid backs), and short nails (really) all were requested at some point, and I've been happy to oblige. My next major project is to isolate the room I use from outdoor light seepage. Once that's done, I'm going to introduce universal lume shots for all lumed watches. Best, Tim

I wish to advise on the strap when you mentioned it is robust. It is not at all robust.. well u can say its caused by the warm humid Asian weather. A plastic part at the end of my strap(lug side) broke n strangely almost the same time on both straps. My Reverso 976 fell on the floor n thank god not on the tar road. I managed to fix it with strong epoxy but dont know how long it will last.

Very informative. Is this the only version with display back and ability to change the hour without stopping the balance? Would this watch be to sensitive to subject to TSA screening or metal detectors when traveling?
@rolandharris27066 жыл бұрын
JLC submits all its pieces to its own chronometrical standards which are far above the traditional Swiss chronometer standards. It will withstand metal detection, easily. This model is far from the only display back. There are pieces in this range that surge to tens of thousands of dollars with beautiful tourbillon dislplays. Truly feats chronometrical acrobatics. Just search for "reverso tourbillon"...then buckle your seatbelt.

Are there any Reversos with a smaller size that also have the display back case? (other than the 270.2.63 because that one is out of my budget)

I am new to watches as far as the quality of the movement in this price rang is it the best bang for my buck... is this a in house movement? Do you have any reconditions to educate myself more on watch movements and brands? I have a small wrist will this watch be okay?
@rolandharris27066 жыл бұрын
it is in-house. might be too big for a small wrist. As a brand, Jaeger Le-Coultre is viewed as "the watchmakers' watchmaker" - the meaning has two offshoots: 1. JLC has actually produced movements for the top manufacturers including Audemars Piguet, Patek Phillippe, IWC, and Cartier. I believe JLC also invented the tourbillon. It is one of the oldest manufacturers in the Valle de Juex. In terms of history and reputation, the brand has few competitors. However, this marque is not for the flashy. Few people in public will even recognize a JLC silhouette. This is simply a line of watches for those who appreciate craftsmanship and elegance. Choose another marque to become your status symbol.

is 'grande' reverso the same as reverso classic 'large'?

+David Taylor Hi David, I actually wondered if I'd ever make it back! There's so much on my plate these days between Watchuwant, Auctionata, live client events, and IW Magazine that it's almost overwhelming for one person. For a guy like me who's surrounded by watches 24/7, it's a bit ironic that I'm running short of "time" ;-) Best, Tim

+Sung Jin Park Hi Sung, aside from the otherworldly Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon, I most enjoyed the gorgeous double-dial Reverso Tribute Calendar in pink gold. Although I generally prefer white metals, this warm and practical complete calendar novelty won me with its charm and vast capability (it also acts as a dual-time). Best, Tim

Hello, I was curious having never owned a Reverso. Some say they are very delicate and highly susceptible to scratches etc.. Is this your experience? Thanks
@the1916company8 жыл бұрын
+Captain Zed Hi Captain, I haven't found this to be the case. The Reverso definitely isn't delicate by design, and the cases are exceptional little pieces of mechanical engineering. Unless an amateur attempts to reassemble the case, these are pretty robust as JLC builds them. Scratch susceptibility will be high in the instance of a precious metal case, but there's nothing about the design that makes it any more vulnerable than other watches executed in the same material. I own two Reversos in precious metals (white gold and platinum). Even when wearing the platinum example (platinum at 950 purity is the softest of precious metals in watchmaking), I don't find the Reverso to be unduly susceptible to scratches. Best, Tim

+watchuwantinc thank you for your reply. I will most definitely put a Reverso on my list to eventually buy. This model or the tribute to 1931 appeal most to me. I have a larger than average wrist so have previously feared this watch in general would be too small. My perspective has since changed. I appreciate it.
@the1916company8 жыл бұрын
+Captain Zed If size is your concern, don't worry. Reverso Grande Calendar, 986, and 976 will offer all the size you could desire. You CAN go quite large with the classic Reversos and need not resort to the Squadras for larger proportions. Best, Tim

+Neil Gordon That it is! I prefer the 42mm x 26mm Grande Taille case myself, and I own two Reverso models that employ the GT. On a smaller wrist like mine (or those of a classical bent), the GT just wears more naturally. Best, Tim

why do you'r words have to be so fancy and big...you'r trying to over sell so hard that it sound's crazy bro...and i really like your vids but the words you use and they way you describe the watch is so annoying, i only watch your videos to see the size of a watch before i buy them, and to see how they look in person, just please stop overselling the watch buy using such crazy words for a watch.

It's NOT for a small wrist. Period. I have a 20cm wrist, and it is perfect. To say that this is suitable for 13cm wrist is just a BARE FACED LIE. You are great in so many ways, TIM - but you ALWAYS do this, and it is a TOTALLY CYNICAL PLOY to widen the scope of the target purchasing public. It is frankly a DISGUSTING practice, and you should be ASHAMED.

Chill out, dude. He was talking about wearability, not looks. I can wear a Casio Frogman, but does it look good on my 15.5 cm wrist? Hell no. But if I want to wear it, you can't stop me.

@@g43654 Oooh, I get it now! So, when Tim Mosso always says something like "This Offshore will wear well on a wrist as small as 11 cms" - he's talking to you.
