New tapered bracelet on the SM300? Or make the speedy as popular as the market defying Daytona: screw down pushers!!
@cdaackСағат бұрын
I think Omega is going to do more of the same as they did at the end of this year: keep rolling out special edition SMPs and Moon Watches. I don’t think anything spectacular or a different direction is coming any time soon. They’re killing it with their releases, and if they can manage to jump ahead of Cartier in sales they won’t make any bold moves.

Tim, appreciate the shout out at the end of the video. The best part of Rolex not allowing you to review their products is you get a lot more time to review other brands! Always enjoy learning from your knowledge.

Tim, you points are all correct and what we want as collectors. But Omega will not change these right now. They are capitalizing on a now-marginal cost of producing long tooth movements and designs during an economic downturn. So long as they see growth in revenue, they will not put our major changes. Not in this market.

Okay, I bet you didn’t say this on purpose but I am dieing waiting for a ceramic bezel, Seamaster Diver 300 based GMT without the external relief valve. Maybe in a beautiful sky blue, moonlight black bezel and black dial with date and some white gold or polished steel touches. Include a rubber and black he speedmaster moonwatch professional steel bracelet. I have the new white dial sapphire sandwich with that bracelet and it is absolutely amazing. Maybe some additional adjustment would be nice but it really doesn’t need it! I wanted the one from the big guys but I am not sure that is ever going to happen.

@the1916company4 сағат бұрын
Agreed. The 42mm size seems so obvious. I'd be shocked if we don't see a ceramic case in that size soon. Or, maybe we get a ceramic Pre-Moon case at 39.7mm. Both would be cool. We could get a black ceramic caliber 321 Ed White and nickname it the Ed Black. Best, Tim

@the1916company4 сағат бұрын
Well, we've had a 38mm Aqua Terra. Check out the older ones, because a few were even built as annual calendars. They're extremely worthwhile watches. Best, Tim

One of the very rare moments I will disageee with you Tim: lugless Seamaster is a bad idea. The wear amd tear on the strap will be very pronounced. Comfort is reduced too. I love my Seamaster Planet Ocean (43.5 mm). I just wish it was thinner
@the1916company4 сағат бұрын
No issues there. It could work exactly like the vintage Omega Dynamic. Check out how the lugless interface worked on those in the late 1960s, and you can see where I'm going with this. Best, Tim

Cheers Tim, very interesting subject today. Respectfully, Le Mans and all, that Mazda guy has never driven a 12 cylinder Ferrari. Any vintage. Ok ✌🏽
@the1916company4 сағат бұрын
The Mazda definitely had volume, but I liked the 1990s Ferrari 333SP even better. First, because I remember the open cars of the period as my initiation to sports prototype racing. Second, because a punched out 4.0L Ferrari GP V12 in a Le Mans prototype sounded mental. I remember it had so much power that as late as 1998, the Kevin Doran's 333SP was catching that year's Le Mans winning Porsche 911 GT1-98 down the back straight at Road Atlanta. The Ferrari couldn't quite match the turbo Porsche out of the turns, but by the time the V12 came onto its cams at the end of the straight, only the braking zone could save the GT1. Best, Tim

Wow your memory is iron clad to remember details like that. I have a vivid recollection of my father taking me to the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach every year from the very early 70s when I was barely walking and talking. I saw some of the most rare Ferraris of all different types cross that little stage by the clubhouse on the green and have heard some of the most legendary 12 cylinder Ferraris revved to red line. Blowing smoke and a little flame to show the crowd why things are what they are. No cars I’ve ever heard at any race track match those notes and tones. One car guy to another, I noticed your Oldsmobile & Buick(?) shirts lately and I’ll just say my last 2 dogs were named Cutlass Supreme and Skylark GSX. Peace ✌🏽

Your multi-faceted critique about Omega's 8500 movement was fully on point, Tim, especially with respect to thickness. Any update or replacement movement will need integrated chronograph and integrated GMT versions as well. They really need to do away with the modular bolt-on-tops for these functions. I actually think they are waiting for the new movement before updating their Planet Oceans, to better address the wearability issue that you raised. So it actually may not launch in the De Ville line, as one might otherwise expect.
@the1916company4 сағат бұрын
It's definitely time. With new developments on the movement essentially having run their course, the 8500 generation will be well remembered, but a clean slate is needed. A longer power reserve, thinner construction, and possibly a separate clean-slate chronograph with full integration of the complication -- no modular additions -- is the way to go. 16-20mm needs to be an extreme dive watch, not the average of mainstream models. You're spot-on that the Planet Ocean would be the ideal place to launch a new caliber family -- if it's profoundly slimmer than previous mechanisms. Best, Tim

Never been a fan of chronos either. I might one day get a quartz one, becasie its unrealistic to say ill never want one, but for the time i just think alot of them look too busy for my taste where I find divers and or feild watches being simplistic and charming. A diver only has 1 crown to consider and a diving bezel is just much more convenient and divers are more durable.

Owning this 2012 limited edition watch is a pleasure. The controversial 007 logos across the dial are extremely subtle, and are mostly unnoticable except in certain light. Primarily, the watch appears black on the wrist under most lighting situations. The bracelet is very well made and comfortable, but does lack the ability to micro-adjust. The red accents are eye catching and perfect. This is a quality built time piece and will always command a good resale price....But, I'm not parting with this ever. Great 41mm, perfectly proportioned retro watch. Buy one if you can find one.
@collectible_watchesКүн бұрын
I think everybody great watchmaker is inspired by Breguet ... Unfortunately 98% of the collectors don't get this today. When looking at Breguet from the last 2- 3 decades there are serieus gems to be found, but somehow a lot of us still thy to get way to expensive steel hyped sports watches. Daniels, Smith, Journe look for a reason at Breguet. And I know the Breguet of today is not the Breguet of 1800 but believe me ... Breguet from 2-3 decades ago is BY FAR the best value in the market today.
