The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968 Limited Edition Q2008470 diving watch is encased in 42mm of stainless steel surrounding a black dial on a dark green woven fabric strap with leather backing. I got mine at release from Paris AD at Place Vendôme. It is a fantastic watch, I absolutely love it. For about a year I used it to wake me up each morning. I have the exact same dial but is it really the wrong dial i.e. the mistake dial which was recalled ? I thought that the wrong dial markers colour was even more pronounced orange and luminescent but not sure. At first I thought that the plexiglass crystal would be an issue but to erase any light hairlines, it can be very easily polished with a clean cloth, toothpaste, a few drop of dishwasher liquid and water. The only thing which is of average quality is the original strap as its two loops disintegrate rapidly.

Do you still own this watch? I’m looking to purchase one, but I have a couple questions about it first. Does the bezel move on accident because of the non-screw down crown? Do you have to be careful with the watch around water because the crowns are non screw down?

It is textured leather so not compatible with water. I put a black alligator on mine, again non compatible with water but for would be diver there are tropical rubber straps.

Can the alarm be switched off? or does it just run til the end of power reserve?

You can move the index to stop the alarm. Just turn the alarm crown when the system rings. Best, Tim

You can stop it by pulling out the alarm crown and wait for time to elapse before to push it in again. Don’t do it under water though.

WatchBox Reviews, well....faux patina Lume, thick, ludicrously thick, scratch magnet plexiglass, symmetry ruined by unnecessary date window. Did I mention how thick this thing is? But there’s a kind of vintage charm and it is fairly unique.

Try to try one and see for yourself. When it was released in 2008 and I saw the pictures, at sight I knew I had to have one. I contacted a friend who contacted a friend involved in JLC Tributes who told me where to go to ask for one and get it… Allegedly all had been called for at release so I had to force my way in… I was shown one which had been reserved, it was fantastic. They told me they would try to get me one, so I immediately proposed a deposit for the full amount. I got the call two days later and never regretted it. It is a rather classy, under rated watch with a lot of vintage charm. I did scratch the crystal but I polished it with toothpaste, dishwashing liquid, water and a clean cotton cloth… When you wear it, virtually no one knows what it is with the exception of the very few people in the know _ I like that. 😉

Should you judge a faithful 1968 re-edition with 2023´ standards ? I went and bought a 1968 re-edition so to me it is perfect. Of course the caliber is state of the art hence much better in all respects than the ones from 1968. If you prefer modern, check out the modern iterations rather than the Tribute.
