African Women we suffer when it comes to ancestors land. My late father was somewhat advanced and left us his daughters and sons equal share of his town properties. But our ancestors land is only for sons. We are greatful because in other families sons inherit everything . But in my mothers side her tribe is Matrilineal society and Women inherit everything and have much power. It is interesting to see. Also Me and my husband are currently building a house. I am the Project Manager since my husband don't care much about construction process (He just want to pay and have finished house) and for me Construction its my hobby. At first the Builders where giving me hard time because I am a woman. They keep calling my husband to verify my decisions . At the end they understand I am their Boss .😅😅😅 We will keep on fighting

My husband and I returned from Johannesburg, south Africa. Where we decided we were done withhe FOREIGNER struggles and wanted to become farmers on the outskirts of town. It is a typical village set up. I pray the future will normalise living in the village. And i hope, we make it in the village so that the people can see tha success in not only obtained in big tall building areas only. Dirt roads, animals, bushes is also a place to find success. I pray for the next generation to have a changed mindset about the village.

Jael, I've been watching your videos for a while and must say I envy your courage and authenticity. I'm also a Kenyan girlchild from a different tribe but appreciate your challenges based on your tribe's culture. It is curious that my tribe also places minimal value on the girlchild, especially unmarried women. I've lived outside Kenya longer than I lived in the country... I'm also in my 40s and it blows my mind that I've financially helped my siblings, especially older brothers for years but still struggle to gain their respect. They are stuck in their cultural ways and refuse to change with the times. I've come to realize that individuals that refuse to accept change are stubborn only when it serves them. So, all that to say that societal rules and traditions only serve the greedy and power hungry. I've settled in my place and only focus on doing the right thing by ME and no one else, my focus going forward is being SELFish! I wish you well and hope that you don't spend your days worrying about the "bad things" that will befall you if you don't live by rules made by people who don't have any interest in your well being. F them!

1. I am glad to see Luo girls pushing back on outdated retrogressive patriarchal traditions 2. Traditions are dynamic not static so the same way ancestors sat down years ago to create them is the same way the current crop of elders need to sit down and modify them to suit modern times and circumstances 3. Judging by the rural/countryside content and desire for a quiet rural lifestyle sentiment I see on the Kenyan social media space, villagers need to brace themselves for a mass urban to rural migration in the coming years. With remote jobs and work from home opportunities on the rise this is becoming a trend and is not going to die down anytime soon. So, they should get used to city dwellers some who were born and raised in the city going back to their roots. Several people some with young families have made this move permanently post pandemic. 4. South Nyanza wotis yawa? You guys need to catch up with the rest of Nyanza in terms of mindset ok hapa nimewachokoza but Jael you understand where I am coming from hahaha

Yet I bet you once they smell the food, they will all come to eat ! Bure Kabisa ! Do as you please ! Why don’t you build an outdoor kitchen !? That is fun, cooking e laru…. Okay .. today I saw your video early ! Jael, today you are deep and not taking any prisoners. The little piece of land you own is your own. You have worked for it yourself and are building your own home. You are a girl from my heart. You are not alone. Hundreds of girls in our corner of the world are doing just like you. It is about time, fathers from our corner of the world start including girl children in their wills according to the constitution of the Republic of Kenya. I am absolutely tired of misogyny, but if you think our men are cruel, just look across the nam to some so-called developed world. Or look east words where women are not even allowed to shaw their faces or some countries where girl unborn babies are literally terminated. All in all, times are changing, especially for African girl children, our villages are realising that "educate a boy, you educate an individual. Educate a girl you educate the whole village. You, Jael, are inspirational. I hope one day you will cook for me under your tree sitting on your bench 😅.❤.

I am Zimbabwean and I hear you. The Culture does not make sense. I am in the same predicament but I decided to buy land in the city and built my house and I am looking at other investments. I like rural life and my father has a bigger land but then the land culturally belongs to my brother. I loved developing my father's land until a workmate of mine (Ghanaian man) warned me to be careful to invest more incase my brothers may want to take the land in future. I listened to what he said, it was good advice so I am doing everything in the City away from my father's land. It's true, African Culture does not have justice to the girl child in the village. I am so proud of you and I wish I knew you personally to exchange ideas.
